Turning to the 'Son"

As the third week in advent comes to a close, my mind and actions are surrounded by the joy of the season.  This time of year seems to bring more smiles and hugs. This time of the year the grumpy-pants become the happy-pants. This time of year the SON brings out the best in all of us as we bloom in His light.

My poor Christmas Cactus almost did not make it this year.  This summer Paddy the dog decided they were bathroom targets and he hit one pretty bad and the other one, Annie the other dog tumped over and laid in the dirt on the back porch.

(BTW...Schlumbergera is the correct name and it is AKA Thanksgiving Cactus, Crab Cactus and Holiday Cactus.)

Terry heard my wails and came running. We carefully put new dirt into a pot and replanted the one that was mushed by Annie. The one that bore the brunt of Paddy's liquids did not fare as well. Even with a new pot it only grew four blooms.  It was my red one.  The green stalks never gained their right color either.

After the replanting they were moved to the top shelf of my plant stand in the breakfast room.  Slowly I nurtured them back to some type of health;  the orange one perked up really quickly with my attention and God's sun.

The red one did not. Half the plant had dark grey-green stalks with no signs of buds and two stalks had tiny red nubs beginning to pop out right after St Nicholas Day.

I waited in joyful anticipation to see the red ones grow into full blooms and they did.

Christmas Cactus blooming in the light of the 'Son'.  God is good. All the Time God is good.

You too can bloom at this time of the year. Just like the plants seeking the light and leaning their limbs and branches to stretch toward it, you can do the same thing.  Seek Him. Seek the light and you will grow and bloom.

Words from my heart, Laurie

“But the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary; you have found favor with God. You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to call him Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over Jacob’s descendants forever; his kingdom will never end.”” Luke 1:30-33 NIV

A Bit of Wonder Contemporary Horse Oil Daily Painting Art by Laurie Justus Pace 24 x 30 x 2 inches of thick buttery oils! Contact me to purchase: Laurie "This is the day that the Lord has made; Let us rejoice and be glad in it". Psalm 118:24 It was a day of celebration yesterday as Lauren Gracen was born. Stacey began her labor around nine in the morning and was ready to push by 12:15, but they held her off while getting things set up. Took four good contractions with multiple pushes and the baby was there! All grandparents accounted for to count the toes and fingers! My admiration is for my daughter and her bravery and calmness despite the tension and newness of what she faced. I was honored to be there as the baby was delivered seeing my granddaughter push out into the light and take her first breathe... and then cry... and that she did. Terry was able to participate and he and Larry helped with pushing and getting Stacey upright for the process and then Terry was hon...

Arrival...Refrigerator?

© Laurie Pace        Graphics One Design 2024 Arrival Oil on Canvas  SOLD   by Laurie Pace   Proverbs 16:3 "Commit to the Lord whtever you do, and he will establish your plans."   Worrisome times laced with prayers.   The world seems like a scary place lately. Praying for everyone affected by the last two hurricanes.  My adventures today were the result of a dead refrigerator. I have loved my Kitchen Aid refrigerator very much. The first one in the 'French Kitchen' look died at 13 months. Hubby wanted the same refrigerator. Well this one made it four years and a few months. I cannot believe appliances are not made to last longer...but wait, is that because they make more money if we have to replace it in 4-5 years?  You replace your mattress at least every 7 years... and your washer dryer, you might get 7 years out of those... The stoves seem to make it closer to 10 years. We are Lowe's customers, and Robert ...
