Message from Marine Corps League ~We are asking everyone to say a prayer for "Darkhorse" 3rd Battalion 5th Marines and their families. They are fighting it out in Afghanistan & they have lost 9 marines in 4 days. IT WOULD BE NICE TO SEE the message spread if more could past it on.

This is my DAY OFF... lol... I am painting all day and do not even want to be blogging this morning...so forgive me as I jump straight into my work.

I have to write a second though remembering a scene from the Quiet Man where John Wayne gets off the train and is seeking the road to Innesfree. Yeah, I probably spelled that wrong.  Anyway, big John gets off the train and he asks a conductor to give him directions. Another man jumps in contradicting the first man, then three or four others lean in to give their advice.  John is scratching his head and two more join the group discussing the best directions...and suddenly a little man appears and takes John's luggage and walks away with it, pausing at the door and looking back to see if John has noted that his bags are gone.  John on cue, looks up and back and forth and decides to follow the man with his bags.  The man has a cart and horse ready and has loaded John's bags by the time he catches up with him.  John climbs aboard and off they go to Innesfree.

Why did I relate this?   Isn't it true for everything in life? EVERYONE has an opinion about what you should do when you ask for advice.   EVERYONE jumps into the fray wanting to share 'the best advice yet' with you.  You head cannot even begin to sort things the advice is drowning out any inner thoughts.  It is only when you look away from all the 'help' that has gathered, and turn your eyes and heart to the one that is carrying your bags, aka your load.  He has the way for you.  Follow Him and He will keep straight your paths.

That poor little 8 x 10 pony was loved by a company to do very large prints and it was not here for me to even use to scan... so I created something with the same heart, a kindred spirit. The underlays are pages from a western book and then torn papers of different varieties were added along with stains of paint and purposeful areas of paint.  This would not be a painting I would do today, but the goal was to capture the spirit of the first painting. Laurie     © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 My Website   Thinking ahead to the Thanksgiving celebration next week, I remembered back to those previous dinners that I cooked, served, ate quickly, and cleaned up.  This is how I felt.  It is probably strange...even for me but I had the best fun sketching it out and painting it. We lost another dear family member this week. She has celebrated her 'continuation' day and is now with her mom and dad and her other cousins.  She leaves behind a family that will always celebrate her gentleness.  My aunt was special to all of us. She loved each of us dearly for who we were and was always ready with a hug or a 'good job'.    My memories are of breakfast pastries smeared with butter on top. It was not like they were not sweet enough as they were, but at her small kitch...
