The Painting: Not sure where my brain was but this pony came out really unusual. I need to paint but we are busy packing. This paint is thicker than the norm!
The Thought: HONESTY is the BEST POLICY. Do you ever hear or speak those words? That is something Terry and I expect from our kids and grandkids ALL the time. The only time I hesitate to say that honesty is the best policy is when you criticize someone.
It is always easy to find fault with other folks and not see our own fault or issues. How do you feel when someone criticizes something you do or say? I keep a smile plastered across my face, tuck my chin in a bit and open my eyes wider and keep direct eye contact with the person that is criticizing me. Sometimes it is hard being an artist and hear folks make comments on your work when you know they do not know you are the artist and you are standing there. I love the ones that say, "hey I can do that, why would anyone pay that much for this art?"
In this instance I would immediately find fault with the messenger or the speaking person. I cannot allow it to seep inside of me or my self esteem takes a battering. I learned about 10 years ago when I 'crossed' over on the "make your living as a full time painter"... that I paint to glorify Him and that if His spirit is in the painting and I love what I am doing and I am happy with what is there, NOTHING else matters. A piece of art will speak to the heart it belongs to...every time, and every time God is Good.
God reveals the truth in everything. When you begin to doubt, turn to Him to teach you how to find your "blind spots" that need work. We all have them. We are a constant work in the making every breath we take.
So honesty is a good thing when it is accompanied by His grace and truth. "An honest answer islike a kiss on the lips." Proverbs 24:26

"Let the words of Christ, in all their richness, live in your hearts and make you wise. Use His words to teach and counsel each other. Sing Psalms and hymns and spiritual songs to God with thankful hearts."
Colossians 3:16
