The Painting: There is this feeling of coming together occasionally when you are working on a painting. The first step was a light watery layer of yellow acrylic. Then as that dried, a sketch of the positioning of the horse and then the colors begin to fall into place. Each one is applied with a knife pulling and contending against each other to find a position. There seems to come a time with art that it begins to be feeling and not intention. That is where I try to take my students, to the point where the inner child-like creativity oozes out controlled in slight limits by the knowledge base and principles of design and color. Within each composition lies areas of indisputable strength and might... and of course areas of the opposite of weakness and vulnerability.

The Thought: I received my first email today of someone that was not comfortable with my words of faith in my blog. My initial reaction was ... so don't read it. They were of different religious beliefs and took offense that I tie my work with my love for the Lord. So if for some reason you do not want to see the thought on your screen, I do have an alternate place for you to save as a favorite: http://texascontemporaryartist.blogspot.com. Here you can view only the art work and not my words of faith. I might not post there every day, but will try hard.

Vacation is upon us for one week, but Terry is still working on our bathroom. I am hoping it might make some headway this week. There is something about "trucking" down the hall to the hall bath in the middle of the night that is not my favorite.

I want to share with you that the Artists of Texas aka Daily Painters of Texas, has their new site up. www.artistsoftexas.org. It is such a pleasure working with so many professional artists as we weave together a community on the internet. We have scheduled our first show in October of this year with The Dutch Art Gallery here in Dallas. I think we have over 30 members right now.
For me the blessing has been getting to know better the Daily Painters from Texas on the main DP site by Micah Condon. www.dailypainters.com. It was from here we began with the Texas members and grew forward. Many of these artists I only knew by name and artwork. Now to have a working relationship with many of them has been an honor.

I am off to pack paintings... may you be blessed to be a blessing today.

Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”- Philippians 2:9-11

Laurie, I truly feel that since your art & faith are inseperable you shouldn't give a seperate way for people to get the blog without your faith based words! They are who you are. I subscribe to your blog & look forward to your words of faith that I am so proud you put out there.
blessings, Cathleen~

Dear Laurie:

Your art lights up the mind an spirit with the beauty
God created. You bring glorious loveliness to ordinary
people with your gift. You take people away from daily tasks to lift up their consciousness to color light, and experiences that enhance existence.

I wish I had words as exhilarating as your art.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts and life and art
with us all.

A Bit of Wonder Contemporary Horse Oil Daily Painting Art by Laurie Justus Pace 24 x 30 x 2 inches of thick buttery oils! Contact me to purchase: Laurie "This is the day that the Lord has made; Let us rejoice and be glad in it". Psalm 118:24 It was a day of celebration yesterday as Lauren Gracen was born. Stacey began her labor around nine in the morning and was ready to push by 12:15, but they held her off while getting things set up. Took four good contractions with multiple pushes and the baby was there! All grandparents accounted for to count the toes and fingers! My admiration is for my daughter and her bravery and calmness despite the tension and newness of what she faced. I was honored to be there as the baby was delivered seeing my granddaughter push out into the light and take her first breathe... and then cry... and that she did. Terry was able to participate and he and Larry helped with pushing and getting Stacey upright for the process and then Terry was hon...

Arrival...Refrigerator?

© Laurie Pace        Graphics One Design 2024 Arrival Oil on Canvas  SOLD   by Laurie Pace   Proverbs 16:3 "Commit to the Lord whtever you do, and he will establish your plans."   Worrisome times laced with prayers.   The world seems like a scary place lately. Praying for everyone affected by the last two hurricanes.  My adventures today were the result of a dead refrigerator. I have loved my Kitchen Aid refrigerator very much. The first one in the 'French Kitchen' look died at 13 months. Hubby wanted the same refrigerator. Well this one made it four years and a few months. I cannot believe appliances are not made to last longer...but wait, is that because they make more money if we have to replace it in 4-5 years?  You replace your mattress at least every 7 years... and your washer dryer, you might get 7 years out of those... The stoves seem to make it closer to 10 years. We are Lowe's customers, and Robert ...

The Marsh... of our lives? Walking with God.

© Laurie Pace        Graphics One Design 2024 The Marsh 6 x 12 inches Oil on Canvas  SOLD   by Laurie Pace   I did two of these paintings about three years ago. They both sold immediately to a Florida Collector. Simple and elegant for a horse painting.  Ephesians 5:1-2 "Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children and walk in love, just as Christ also loved you and gave Himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God as a fragrant aroma."  One of the biggest challenges in walking with God is trusting Him and not trying to out think Him or to do everything your way. It never works.  The Apostle Paul wrote of his own struggles in Romans 7 .  Romans 7: 22-23 “ So I find this law at work: Although I want to do good, evil is right there with me. For in my inner being I delight in God’s law; but I see another law at work in me, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the ...
