Thanks for Supporting Daily Painters!

I have been working on this one since Sunday out in my kitchen studio. LOTS of good light, but sort of cramped in comparison! Enjoy!

This morning I am not even out of bed. TOO cold. My cough is racking my body. The little ceramic heater in the bedroom has not been able to keep up with the dropping freezing outside. Hopefully the other heater has the kitchen warm and toasty. PLAN is to get out of bed, dress and scurry to the kitchen to work all day. My studio area is basically off limits as is my big Mac. Dirt and dust are thick. My computer equipment and printers are all covered. There is a heater going in there, but not for me!

DAY 13 with out heat and now with out hot water. Terry has the entire closet where the heater and hot water heater were, cleaned out. He has to rebuild the floor area, pull off the sheetrock so the plumber can put pipes in the wall. Interesting that he told me plumber would be back today, but the sheetrock is still up. I guess we pay the plumber to remove sheetrock. I get confused. I know we are going with a tankless waterheater so we have room for everything in the closet. It was all to tightly tucked in there before. The weather forecast is for COLDER and WETTER. As is I have to cancel my piano tuner again this morning because of the unstable temps in the house. I had high hopes Terry would stay home and finish working on this, but it is not going to happen. My guess it will be another week or more before I have heat or hot water. Makes it hard to kick this flu bug I have with out it. I realized there are lessons to learn in life and I can definitely say I am learning them right and left.

The Lord is my strength.

Pride is something to consider in all of us. Too often we allow it to get in the way of making decisions. None of us escape pride. It is a seasoned part of human nature. Sometimes it is a good positive thing and sometimes it is a negative force. It is human nature to get fixated on something and then stubbornness creeps in and holds pride up too. From every thought process to our action processes, what we say and do in life creates a domino affect. So today start a positive movement. Say good morning with a smile and mean it!

Grace,
Laurie

"Pride only breeds quarrels,
but wisdom is found in those who take advice." Proverbs 13:10

POST NOTE: Well, so much for MY JOB and my working this morning. Somehow the heat was not turned on in the kitchen. The room is at 47 degrees. It will take at least 2 hours for it to heat up enough for me to work making it ten or later before I can paint. This is a huge cut in my day of almost four straight working hours. This puts me further behind. Somehow my job holds no credibility to anyone but to me. My need for heat to get well, to live and work is not obviously a priority when others do not have to be here 24 hours a day like I do. Lord even in the midst of my tears and frustration I am trying to be quiet to hear what your message is.

This sort of looks like my Tsunami! a sweet (& feisty) mare I used to own (owned me!) for a long, long time. ...you are in my prayers for health & for your home & HEAT to be restored, I'm so sad you have to go on in those conditions!

Assuming it is still allowed, we were able to take a "green" tax credit for the Tankless heater. I think for our size heater it was $250. Remember it for taxes next year. I would hope who ever sold it to you would know a little more.

Mixed Media Collage Horse Paintings by Texas Artist Laurie Justus Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2013 Horse Collage Fall 2013  12 x 18 inches Mixed Media on Canvas.  This was an intentional paint to imitate one of the 100 ponies I did in 2012. That poor little 8 x 10 pony was loved by a company to do very large prints and it was not here for me to even use to scan... so I created something with the same heart, a kindred spirit. The underlays are pages from a western book and then torn papers of different varieties were added along with stains of paint and purposeful areas of paint.  This would not be a painting I would do today, but the goal was to capture the spirit of the first painting. Laurie     © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 My Website   Thinking ahead to the Thanksgiving celebration next week, I remembered back to those previous dinners that I cooked, served, ate quickly, and cleaned up.  This is how I felt.  It is probably strange...even for me but I had the best fun sketching it out and painting it. We lost another dear family member this week. She has celebrated her 'continuation' day and is now with her mom and dad and her other cousins.  She leaves behind a family that will always celebrate her gentleness.  My aunt was special to all of us. She loved each of us dearly for who we were and was always ready with a hug or a 'good job'.    My memories are of breakfast pastries smeared with butter on top. It was not like they were not sweet enough as they were, but at her small kitch...

Sleeping Cowboy . Ernest Hemingway . Sunday, a day of rest . Western Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

My life has the tendency to fall apart when I'm awake, you know?” Ernest Hemingway  I really enjoyed painting this scene. It was restful to me as the artist  and loved by our friends.  Sunday is the day of rest. I smiled when I found this in archives and thought it perfect for this day.  If you live in Texas you know that we still have 'rules' about not selling liquor before noon.  If you live in Texas and are in your late thirties and up, you might even remember Blue Laws.   Stores were simply NOT open...
