Zinnias! I love them. I remember playing in my Grandmother's Zinnias as a little girl. They seemed as tall as I was. So many colors shimmering in the summer sun at her farm house in St Louis. I also remember waking up in bed with the window open and white curtains fluttering...outside a chorus of birds ringing out their joys of morning. That is life and we all need to appreciate those golden moments in every day today.
This painting is oil on canvas. I used Holbein Duo Oils in my work. A wide brush provided the movement. I could hear my birds in the background as I painted and the memories of those summer days came alive.
When I am down, which is border line today. We have been with out water for 14 hours...I need a cold shower and some food right now...but I always try and keep in perspective my problems when I think of Job in the bible. ( We are trying to clean up and put the furniture back into place today as we finish up baseboards.)
"And he said, 'Naked I came from my mother's womb, and naked shall I return; the Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord.' " Job 1:21
