Horse 86... I have 14 more to go and today is the 18th... there are not 14 days left this year. I will paint them all this year but some will post the first week of January.  I am also busy painting some large paintings for a new gallery in La Jolla, California. More as the website becomes live. Meanwhile enjoy SUNRISE, Horse 86.  

Can you imagine the glorious sunrise the morning after Jesus was born? From the descriptions in the Gospels, the night he was born there was glory all around from the stars to the manager.  Having given birth three times myself, I cannot even imagine Mary doing this alone with Joseph and feeling up to all that happened around her over the next weeks.  I wanted alone time to bond with each of my babies, but I guess she knew this was a special child. Adding that in on top of her first time to give birth and she had a lot going on in that dirty stable. 

So the inspiration for this painting was the morning after... the glorious sunrise that greeted the couple and the newborn babe.   Keep the joy alive in your heart and home as we head into the weekend ahead.

That poor little 8 x 10 pony was loved by a company to do very large prints and it was not here for me to even use to scan... so I created something with the same heart, a kindred spirit. The underlays are pages from a western book and then torn papers of different varieties were added along with stains of paint and purposeful areas of paint.  This would not be a painting I would do today, but the goal was to capture the spirit of the first painting. Laurie     © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 My Website   Thinking ahead to the Thanksgiving celebration next week, I remembered back to those previous dinners that I cooked, served, ate quickly, and cleaned up.  This is how I felt.  It is probably strange...even for me but I had the best fun sketching it out and painting it. We lost another dear family member this week. She has celebrated her 'continuation' day and is now with her mom and dad and her other cousins.  She leaves behind a family that will always celebrate her gentleness.  My aunt was special to all of us. She loved each of us dearly for who we were and was always ready with a hug or a 'good job'.    My memories are of breakfast pastries smeared with butter on top. It was not like they were not sweet enough as they were, but at her small kitch...
