"I establish my covenant with you, that never again shall all flesh be cut off by the waters of the flood, and never again shall there be a flood to destroy the earth.” And God said, “This is the sign of the covenant that I make between me and you and every living creature that is with you, for all future generations: I have set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be a sign of the covenant between me and the earth." Genesis 9:11-13

Don't you often think about the storms that roll through your life and the battles you fight against the heavy rains and winds? As a small child living in St Louis, I remember sitting at the tiny kitchen table on a chair next to the basement door....waiting. Tornado warnings were on the black and white TV in the living room; Mom was in the kitchen making food, and I sat petrified waiting for her command to go downstairs. As a child, I was waiting...(like a victim) for the horrible storm outside to hurt me. My mom on the other hand was busy preparing food for our family.

When we moved to Dallas, the storms seemed more intense and there were definitely more tornadoes rolling through. My Uncle Myron used to take me for walks outside as the storms were rolling in. He wisely told me about storms, how they were made and all about lightening and thunder. He also told me about God in our lives and how we all will weather storms in our lives and we have to stay the course and be strong through the winds and rains. When the storms are over, God always puts a rainbow in the sky. Sure enough after that storm blew through there was a huge rainbow as the sun was setting in the west. I always knew my Uncle Myron was a smart man. (He was a PHD in History and taught at Austin College in Sherman, Texas)

God is with us through every storm in our lives. He has the main plan in front of Him and He knows how long we will endure the storm before the skies clear. Looking back to the talks with my Uncle, I do believe we learn something from every storm and as we weather each of them we grow stronger, not weaker.

I learned from Pastor Kate today that a rainbow seen from an airplane is circular...totally round. She compared it to the never ending Love of the Father and His never ending promise to us...His covenant.

Joy and Abundance,

Laurie

"As the appearance of the bow that is in the cloud in the day of rain, so was the appearance of the brightness round about. This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the LORD. And when I saw it, I fell upon my face, and I heard a voice of one that spake." Ezekiel 1:28
