The Journey, Horse Equine Watercolor Art Painting by Texas Contemporary Equine Artist Laurie Pace

'Journey' 14 x 14  Watercolor Framed  Available through The Dutch Art Gallery during the Artists of Texas Show Where Texas Finds Its Color. Nov 2 - Dec 31st Contact me for Commission work. Laurie    © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 My Website         These fall days are by far my most favorite. Savoring the last of warmth in the late afternoon and waking to a brisk morning... what a beautiful life. Yesterday afternoon Terry kidnapped me and we went for a three hour drive through the countryside around the north side of the lake.  Simply Gorgeous! Everything. The trees were wearing their most vibrant colors and the sun was brimming in brilliance sparkling through the rich leaves.  Again Lord, what a beautiful life. Time for me to think about Thank You Notes to Heaven.  Do you remember as a kid growing up your mom introducing you to the fact that you needed to write thank you n...

Laurie Contact me for commission work. Laurie    © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 My Blog My Website    JOY JOY JOY!  For some reason looking at this tiny fun painting brings joy to me, or does it?  Colors, movement and action all rolled into one. Then "joy" to someone that will get a free painting. Is that really true? There is never a bad time for Joy.  There is never a moment you have to wait for Joy either.  Joy does not come from reaching a goal or buying something or from getting a free painting.  Joy does not come from a marriage, a new baby. Joy does not come from attaining things or buying things or even getting things free. Joy does come from a state of mind.  Joy comes from the pure simple r...

Red Roses Floral Flower Art Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

'Red Roses' 24 x 18  Oil on Canvas Contact me to purchase by check or paypal. Laurie © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 My Blog My Website     Flower for the thought of new growth even in the early days of winter.  Even in these days of cold when it seems like there is little growing, the world around us is full of life and growth.  We  have to remember that God is our ever present source to providing what is needed to encourage that growth. It is His love and grace that sustains us even in the darkest days; then nurtures and encourages us to bloom again.  So often we feel like we can never get to that point of smiling or being happy again.  Our source is HIM.  He provides the health and wholeness we seem to miss in our lives. It is our responsibility to reach out to Him to receive it.  Don't expect it otherwise...you'll have a long bleak winter ahead with out Him.  Prayer always makes ...

Pear Study in Candle Light Fruit Still Life by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

'Pear Study' 9 x 12 Oil on Canvas Contact me to purchase by check or paypal. Laurie    © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 My Website     I became a pear person this past weekend. I use to be known as the pear lady as I painted pears almost as much as I painted horses... but we had some new pears from the store and during the rainstorms there was not much to do but paint by candle light and I did... a pear and an apple. Our trip to Dallas was short.  We bible studied in the car on the way in, the prophet Jeremiah.  The first mission, I did deliver all the paintings to the Dutch Art Gallery for the upcoming Artists of Texas show.  I was wowed by the depth of work that has arrived from our artists across the state.  We have 45 participating artists.  Pam Massar at DAG is a wonderful host for this group. I got to meet Texas Artist Shirley Quaid whose work I absolutely drool over and I got to see the...

Saving a Lost One - Cowboy Horse Western Oil Painting by Contemporary Texas Artist Laurie Pace

'Saving the Lost One' 24 x 18  Oil on Canvas Contact me to purchase by check or paypal. Laurie   © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 My Website       Massive rain again last night. Tornadoes danced through out northern east Texas and we made a vow to make sure we buy a weather radio. Ours was lost in the move. Actually it is obviously in the missing box with Terry's ties, my missing books and the other missing objects we have not found yet. This painting ties right in there with all of the 'lost' ideas.  The rancher is out bringing in a lost one in the snow.  The picture is from a friend in Ponder Texas, Linda.  Our area had snow last year, which is unusual.  I finished it up yesterday about two or so just as the storms began and was able to get a quick shot of it before the darkness descended. We were one of the lucky subdivisions that did not lose power. Highly unusual. We have to make one of those...

Still in Progress ROPING IN THE SNOW COWBOY Oil Painting Cowboy and Horse Winter Western Art by Texas Contemporary Artist Laurie Pace

'Still in Progress  ~ Roping in the Snow' 24 x 18  Oil on Canvas Still in progress on this painting. We had bad storms yesterday and no power. Didn't want to paint as much with the lightening and the storms bouncing around and the studio is a solid wall of windows.  Hope to finish this up today after church. Contact me to purchase by check or paypal. Laurie     © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 My Blog My Website     My thoughts yesterday through out the day were to try and stay on task.  The early morning hours found us worried with an ill bird, then a quick trip to town for supplies for Terry to finish the last sealing up of the back of the house repair...and as we arrived home storms were coming into the area. Between the dog that desperately needs a bath and cannot have one with stitches in his paw, the now dusty closed in back porch room that serves as my studio, and no electricity...I didn't ge...

Roping in the Snow in Progress Equine Art Horse Oil Cowboy Roper Painting by Contemporary Texas Artist Laurie Pace

'ETCHINGS of Roping Snow' 18 x 24  Oil on Canvas IN PROGRESS.... Stay tuned for tomorrow. My friend Linda in Ponder, Texas, shared photos for me to paint of her husband riding in the snow we had last spring.  This is a small study for a larger palette knife painting. Contact me to purchase by check or paypal. Laurie     © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 My Blog My Website     Do you have any pretentious people or pretenders in your life right now? Are you a pretender? Sometimes it can get tangled when you are trying to develop new habits in life and you do that fake it till you make it thing.  The important thing is not to pretend to yourself.   Back to the old saying "To thine own self be true."  By this time in your life you do know the difference. When I was writing about self-concept yesterday and was cruising the internet I came across a thought I missed... for goodness sakes, look ho...

It is just after nine as I am typing away. I was awake briefly at 4, but went back to sleep...but not before I begin to wrap my thoughts around what I wanted to write about this morning. WHO ARE YOU? Thinking about our own conceptions of who we are was wrapped in my brain.  "Self-concept is simply what you understand about yourself. It differs from self-image because it involves your social abilities and character, physical appearan...

Dancing in the Leaves Equine Art Horse Oil Painting by Texas Contemporay Artist Laurie Pace

'Dancing in the Leaves' 30 x 40 inches  Oil on Canvas This is available here from my studio. Please make an offer. Contact me to purchase by check or paypal. Laurie   © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 My Blog My Website     Lazy day yesterday and the hours fly by and I am not sure where they went. I was even up by 7:30.  But not much was accomplished.  Still cannot figure out why. I tried to paint, but didn't like what I was doing.. .was using a brush again.  Next will be back to my palette knife. I feel a bit draggy. I noticed the days are really getting shorter and I know we do that day light savings flip again soon. I always dread it. Why does man mess with GOD?  God knows best.  This restless tired feeling has got to go and I need to recenter myself. When you feel this way there is a need to fake it till you make it. Think Stacey was the one that repeated that to me over and over again i...

Colorful Morning Landscape of Color Oil Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

'Colorful Morning' 9 x 12  Oil on Canvas This is a warm up practice paint of trial colors for a future painting, so it is NOT expensive at all. Almost a give away.   Email me if you are interested and I will make you a deal! Contact me to purchase by check or paypal. Laurie   © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 My Blog My Website     Yesterday was one of THOSE days.  It was not bad enough to make you say, "Why did I even get out of bed?"  but it definitely made you reflect on it.  Not sure where any of the time went and I needed to paint yesterday. I played with the above piece and one other that finally made me laugh and cry. Such is the life of an artist.  Some days the creativity just flows through you and other times you try to take charge and it never works. None of it.   Wonder how the great Creator felt way back when... did He have bad days and good ones as He worked too? That might exp...

Horse Play Equine Horse Art Oil Palette Knife Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

'Horse Play' 24 x 30  Oil on Canvas SOLD Contact me for Commission Work. Laurie     © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 My Blog My Website     Forgot to blog this morning. That is rare considering it is something I have done every morning for over 4 years, almost five years. Things were scrambled yesterday. I was sitting at the computer yesterday morning about nine and I looked backwards before rolling my chair (The dog was behind me laying down.) and saw massive blood all over the floor.  Paddy lifted his head and seemed okay, but obviously something was not okay.  I called out to Terry to get out of bed and he came pretty quick. Long story short, Paddy had cut open his foot across his 'pads'.  VERY DEEP.  Terry and I quickly bound up his foot and headed for the nearest vet.  This would be the vet with all the wild animals.  Zebras, Kangaroos etc...  With in the hour Paddy was in sur...

'Beneath Thy Window' 22 x 28  Mixed Media on Canvas Commissioned Painting SOLD Contact me to commission your own music piece with your child. Laurie   © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 My Blog My Website     Yesterday was Sunday, but I finished up this music painting and wanted to share it this morning. It is a commissioned painting and the buyer provided her favorite CD piano music for me to listen to and precious photos of her nephew playing the piano.  He is a very talented young man and it was an honor to paint this for his Aunt.     I just got back the collector book for one family of the piece entitled  How Great Thou Art. This is the cover.  This is the title page...  There are several pages of studio shots and then images of the progress of the painting. This is how I do the oil paintings as well. I take progressive shots of the work. From the birth of the painting, the ske...

Through the Fall Foliage Equine Art Painted Pony Pull Horizon Horses Oil Painting by Texas Contemporary Artist Laurie Pace

'Through the Fall Foliage' 24 x 36  Oil on Canvas A Rare Treat... one of my horizon Painted Pony Pulls. I have limited the number I paint every year to keep them more collectible. Other artists attempt to imitate the approach,  but if you ever seen one of mine in  person you realize there is no comparison in the technique and the paints.  This is a developed style that I have worked on since 2006. Read more about it on my website, the History of the Painted Pony . Contact me to purchase by check or paypal. Laurie     © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 My Blog My Website     It was a rough night.  I was sound asleep when Terry woke me at three to see if I felt all right.  I told him I did feel all right when I was asleep... why was he waking me up?  He said he didn't feel good and was worried he had made us sick from something he cooked from dinner.  That woke me up.  Then h...

Painted Pony Pull coming SOON! Abstract Equine Horse Oil Painting for upcoming show by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

'YUMM?' 24 x 36  Oil on Canvas COMING SOON... ONE OF MY Rare Painted Pony Pulls Contact me to purchase by check or paypal. Laurie     © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 My Blog My Website     Well, I did paint yesterday... I just didn't shoot tight pictures and the painting is too wet to try and shoot until maybe tomorrow. I can't move it yet.  So the day yesterday started out better than I had hoped.  I believe yours can go well today too if you begin to realize God is the source, the only source. If you truly believe in this, there are no limits to what you can overcome in your life or what you can accomplish.  Yes you can get off the treadmill or out of the squirrel cage you are running in circles in. This weekend you can be FAITH IN ACTION. I have to share with you something incredible that happened in the past few days.  It is Faith in Action and trusting the Father to provide.  W...

Flowers in Progress OIL PAINTING by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

'Flowers in Progress' 18 x 24  Oil on Canvas Contact me to purchase by check or paypal. Laurie     © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 My Blog My Website         Only an in progress piece. Been knee deep and not getting everything done I need to get done. More like circles I think. This is obviously a bad habit I need to address...running in circles. I should be in the shower right now and painting after that, but I am here blogging.  How many missed opportunities are there while I am running in circles?   Sometimes in life we have to let go and release things that no longer serve us.  Only then will we find balance and restoration with in our own lives.  You cannot see those opportunities if you are running in circles making dust all around you... So I have to get my mind in the right place to let go of that which is no longer helpful but is only baggage to me. Life cannot go on an...

Changing Seasons Equine Art Horse Painting by Equine Texas Artist Laurie Pace

'Changing Seasons' 30 x 30 inches  Acrylic on Canvas Contact me to purchase by check or paypal. Laurie     © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 My Blog My Website         My heart sis Jan wrote to me: " Love the story about the “Cracked Pots”  Isaiah 64:8  “We are the clay, you are the Potter. We are all the work of your hand.” The overall message contained in 2 Corinthians is "Hope for Cracked Pots."  The Bible says, "For we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us." (2 Corinthians 4:7) The secret of the Christian life is realizing that we contain the life of the Lord Jesus Christ released through the Holy Spirit.  Even though the container may be a little misshapen, or even cracked, the value is the treasure we contain, not in the container itself. In other words, "It's not about ME!" "It's all about HIM!" It warms my hear...

Silver Steed at Night Equine Contemporary Art Horse Oil Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

'Silver Steed in the Night' 22 x 28 inches  Oil on Canvas Available through my studio. Contact me to purchase by check or paypal. Laurie   © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 My Blog My Website     I could not help sharing this. I rarely read forwards, but this one came from Vicki and I clicked on it to read.  After I finished it, I knew it would be my blog this morning. It so applies to everything I have been writing about...self acceptance.    An elderly Chinese woman had two large pots. Each hung on the ends of a pole which she carried across her neck.  One of the pots had a crack in it while the other pot was perfect and always delivered a full portion of water.  At the end of the long walks from the stream to the house, the cracked pot arrived only half full. For a full two years this went on daily, with the woman bringing home only one and a half pots of water. Of course, the perfect pot ...

Early Fall Leaves Watercolor Painting of Leaves by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

'Early Fall Leaves' 18 x 24  Watercolor on Canvas Contact me to purchase by check or paypal. Laurie © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 My Blog My Website     This painting is one that is almost done. It was used for the  videography that Ken was here shooting last week.   It is the thread that ties the process together... from my walks, to  my photos and my collection of objects from nature... all the way back to the studio. The video will show this as it began and developed.  I have not finished it, but hope to this week... if you might be interested, email me. It is a gallery wrapped watercolor canvas and it will be fixed and sprayed with a light varnish seal. It rained here today. It actually rained for four hours straight. I do not know how much water is in the rain gage, but we had a good soaking rain today.  God was good to us in our abundance of rain today. It has not rained here in about six weeks. ...

Sheer Grit Completed Girl Soccer Oil Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

'Sheer Grit' 20 x 30 inches Oil on Canvas SOLD COMMISSIONED PAINTING Contact me to commission work. Laurie © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 My Blog My Website     This was finished yesterday and is drying and waiting for a heavy varnish coat. This was so much fun to do and it is one I will always remember.  Emma and I have traded paintings of our own last year. This year I was able to paint this soccer painting for her family. Our TV carrier has been out. We have one of those dishes on the roof. I am not big on TV so I have not missed it, but Terry is suffering.  If we did not have internet with NETFLIX on demand I think he would  have moved us to a hotel by now. I will look up the weather today as I have no idea what is happening and it has been back pretty hot in the afternoon.  Mornings it is about 50 degrees but afternoons are creeping up to ninety again. I am going to spend much time in prayer this week fo...

Sheer Grit Continues on the Easel Emma playing Soccer Oil Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

'Sheer Grit further progress' 24 x 36  Oil on Canvas SOLD COMMISSIONED PAINTING Contact me for commission work.    Laurie  © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 My Blog My Website     The painting continues and I hope today to finish up the second soccer player on the far right.  I am debating doing the second one in this series but will talk to Emma's mom first to see if they have soccer pictures from their new team in California.  Wow I would love to see her play a game. I can't help but wonder how they are adjusting to the new home in California.  With all of our many moves I discovered it takes about a year to two years to finally settle in and feel like it is home.   Why does it seem to take so long to adjust to who we really are as God made us?  Some of us take more than two years and some don't ever adjust in their lifetime.  Face it our lives are full of constant adj...

'Sheer Grit' continued Painting in Progress Oil Painting of Girl Soccer Player by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

'Sheer Grit continued' Sold Commissioned Painting Contact me for commission work. Laurie © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 My Blog My Website     A short late blog this morning.  I have been working most of the night on the 8 page spread for ContemporaryFineArtInternational.com .  Our first introduction into the art world with the huge support of our artists. There are over 75 international artists participating in the feature.   Meanwhile yesterday Ken Vaughan, the videographer/photographer departed late afternoon. We spent most of the morning going through voiceovers and retaping certain segments.  I am looking forward and cringing at the same time to see what he comes up with.  The most difficult to imagine is just seeing myself. I was a professional model for 25 years.  Beanstalk thin at 5 ft 9 inches and 115 lbs...all the way to age 52 or 53.  No longer. So having been so thin for most of my life, the ...

Laurie     © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 My Blog My Website   It was a wild day yesterday tramping through the woods carrying my guitar, camera equipment, white screens, tripods and jugs of water.   Ken says we are throwing shoot almost everything and I believe there is some voice over yet to do... and we will be done. Terry posed on the dock with me for a still picture. We have not had any done in a long long time.  I can't wait to see it.   The painting above is in progress.  This is one I promised to paint last year and am just now catching up to get it down. It will hang in the upcoming art show until I get some other piece finished.  Not sure where my time goes... being retired is hard when you never get a day off. Yesterday I painted leaves. I had collected some on the...
