Giving It Up

Yesterday I went with my dear friend Vicki to Cooper Leaf Spa in Winnsboro.  We had an afternoon spa package and when I walked out of the door I felt like runny pudding seeking ground.  I was rather excited about going yesterday morning, but had forgotten how wasted one is after the process. Relaxed. Tired. Ready to sleep. Giving up to the therapists and professionals to remold my body back to its natural state.

Started with a pedicure and leg massage, followed by a manicure and arm massage and then an hour of full body massage, reflexology and a head massage.  Somewhere along the line I had to give it up.

I had to give up the tension and empty my rocks out of all of my pockets. Giving it up and allowing someone else to care for you.  It was hard. The therapist kept saying, relax, let it go.  I was pretty tied up from the trip this past weekend and all the painting over the past few months.

There are other things in life I need to "give it up" on.  Some are relationships, some are commitments, and others are 'things' I tied myself to.  I know in my heart and in my head it is time. I have no clue how things are suppose to work out, but I do trust that God has something in mind.  WHY do we yoke ourselves to worry so much?

“Then Jesus said to his disciples: ‘Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear. Life is more than food, and the body more than clothes. Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them. And how much more valuable you are than birds! Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life? Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest?’” (Luke 12:22-26, NIV)

Why even at my age is this so hard to do?  I am the one responsible for feeding the worry.  I clothe it too and keep it warm.  It grows under my care.  Why am I doing this?

It is time to give it up... you need to do it too.

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:6-7).

Contact me to purchase: Laurie "This is the day that the Lord has made; Let us rejoice and be glad in it". Psalm 118:24 It was a day of celebration yesterday as Lauren Gracen was born. Stacey began her labor around nine in the morning and was ready to push by 12:15, but they held her off while getting things set up. Took four good contractions with multiple pushes and the baby was there! All grandparents accounted for to count the toes and fingers! My admiration is for my daughter and her bravery and calmness despite the tension and newness of what she faced. I was honored to be there as the baby was delivered seeing my granddaughter push out into the light and take her first breathe... and then cry... and that she did. Terry was able to participate and he and Larry helped with pushing and getting Stacey upright for the process and then Terry was hon...

Arrival...Refrigerator?

© Laurie Pace        Graphics One Design 2024 Arrival Oil on Canvas  SOLD   by Laurie Pace   Proverbs 16:3 "Commit to the Lord whtever you do, and he will establish your plans."   Worrisome times laced with prayers.   The world seems like a scary place lately. Praying for everyone affected by the last two hurricanes.  My adventures today were the result of a dead refrigerator. I have loved my Kitchen Aid refrigerator very much. The first one in the 'French Kitchen' look died at 13 months. Hubby wanted the same refrigerator. Well this one made it four years and a few months. I cannot believe appliances are not made to last longer...but wait, is that because they make more money if we have to replace it in 4-5 years?  You replace your mattress at least every 7 years... and your washer dryer, you might get 7 years out of those... The stoves seem to make it closer to 10 years. We are Lowe's customers, and Robert ...
