Thunder Snow is happening here... icy streets, lots of wrecks... and I am in long johns and sweats in my studio working. I have been on my feet painting for over three hours and stopping to fix lunch. There is a battle on this canvas, but with every challenge good evolves as bad falls away. Thus is the power of the Paint VS the Spirit of the Paint. When an Artist takes over a canvas and paints by vision alone and not by feel of heart and spirit... the painting seems void of emotion.  I am still on this journey and will share bits and pieces this week.  Beholding This is my word of the year. Reminding me always to not necessarily PUSH forward, but to step back and behold what the Lord has placed before me. This too can be a ba

I am about half way through on this painting.  Taking a small break today and preparing for birthdays starting tomorrow with our youngest son and this weekend for our youngest granddaughter.  Cards ready to be designed and made for each of them.   I ordered my youngest son some special music writing notebooks for his passion of creating and performing music.  The Granddaughter is getting a beautiful necklace that Terry and I picked out for her!  The Painting Mirada Fine Art, my Denver Gallery, has a special Valentine show coming up and after a specialty show in March. I am painting this larger canvas for that show and it is reflective of my collected style over the past 20 plus years.  I will cont

"Feel like I have been absent... from life and from my studio. Caught Covid from our grandson next door... but slowly eating again.  I had great intentions the two days before I fell ill early on a Wednesday morning. In fact I was at the point of jumping in to work on some new pieces for a show in Denver... and I hope to get somethings drawn off today.  It has been a time of grit and determination. For three days I could not eat because I would throw it all up.  I dropped 7 pounds... and now I am trying to regain some back but not eating healthy as I normally do. Something about taste buds trying to work again! My poor hubby came down with it just as I was coming out of it all. The illness was three packed days...but then it took three more days t

"We have reverse weather in north Texas. Jan and Feb are usually our coldest months where we get winter normally in the 40s and 50s.  It is going to be in the eighties today.  I pulled a painting from my archive to share. Back in 2004-2010 I painted a handful of these, of which two were commissions that were larger.  There is something settling doing a landscape/seascape and tying in a sunrise or sunset.    I am sipping hot tea trying to clear the morning fog out of my head with the pressure of reversed fronts out of the south. Do not believe I will be painting today.  Think it is a curl up and read a book and sit outside around noon in the 80 degrees! "This was a journey I enjoyed. From a tulip photo I took in my kitchen about 10 years ago... I tried looking at it and dissect it into a "pop" feeling to it. The creativity part was relaxing and the final touch ups very rewarding!  The background is my favorite blue on the right side. The underlay of the painting had a soft bright orange that comes through near the bottom. Hope it calls to a heart for a new home! Makes me want to party! "  Changing Directions I remember my father-in-law and his wonderful sense of humor.  I only saw him angry twice, the rest of the time he wore a smile as big as Texas and it made his eye wrinkle up and smile at the same time.  His favorite saying was,  "He can get glad just like he got mad."   Ben Pace did n

"Yes, I fell off the posting wagon... but for good reason. There was a computer glitch and I LOST three of the blogs I had written. Then the weekend hit and I gave up till today, Monday!  The painting above was done about two years ago and within an hour of posting it on my website, it sold and headed to Austin, Texas.   I will be painting over the next weeks.  Mirada Fine Art, my Denver gallery since 2010,  has a new show coming up. Details will follow as they release the information to the public. Time to shake things up for sure!. Happy New Year...Behold the journey ahead!"
