BOATS Seascape Painting by Laurie Justus Pace SOLD Commission Painting. Contact me for Inquiries. Laurie Monday dawns and Terry and I are on the way to see Steve, our doctor/oldest friend. I know I told you before he gave me my first kiss in fifth grade. He is a musician, piano, guitar and bass. In our younger years even 10 years ago, we just to meet on Wednesday nights with Mike Thomas and jam on the guitars and sing. Both of them can really really sing. We made the tours of Terry's mother's nursing home and we sang at Steve's mother renewal wedding vows ceremony. I miss those days! I must carve out time to relax and laugh again. Mom did more unpacking of her bathroom yesterday and then slept all afternoon. She is very quiet these days. Please continue your prayers for her healing. Today I want you to dream. God gave us this ability to dream and plan and have hope. Denis Waitley said "...that you've got to have a dream if you want to have a dream com...
PLAYING FOR PAPA Mixed Media on Canvas by Laurie Justus Pace Second in the Series 22 x 28 inches SOLD Thanks for supporting Daily Painters! For Inquiries or a commission piece similar contact: Laurie Sunday has not dawned quite yet. We were awakened earlier around three by a massive thunderstorm but I am not convinced it rained. I think it was all noise. On our new pillows I never have trouble falling back to sleep. I still recommend to ANYONE out there SOVN Pillows. We have slept so soundly and wake up with out neck pain, or headaches...easy to fall asleep and stay asleep and I no longer have that split bed head in the back of my hair. We cannot wait until our mattress arrives. You will hear about that positive or negative when it does. Mother is doing better. Yesterday she had company, helped fold wash, did not run any fever and walked with a lift to her body. I am so relieved to see her begin to come back to life. She lost 15 pounds this week. Although weight loss is okay,...
Carved Horse Horse Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 24 x 24 inches For inquiries: Laurie SOLD ON DAILY PAINTERS! Thank You!! Saturday...where has the week gone? Yesterday was totally eaten up by doctor and medical. Mom and I did not make it home until after two and we left at 8:30. By the time I prepared lunch it was 3 when I got into the studio and I didn't start a painting because Terry and I walk at 3:45 when he gets home. We did walk though. We did close to 2.5 miles in fact and in less time! We are walking at the mall because of the heat. Have you ever had that feeling that you were so sick you wanted to die, but then you were scared and didn't want to die? OR that you wanted to live, but you were so scared you didn't want to live because you didn't know how? I am not that way right now, but I know someone else that is. There are times in life that the detour signs are not in front of us. Hedges or trees cover them and we are not sure which way to turn. I...
HERD OF EIGHT Horse Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 36 x 48 inches COMMISSIONED PAINTING SOLD Contact me for your own commissioned painting. Laurie This one is almost done. This is a large rendition of a smaller painting I did last year. I am doing two for this new collector. Today I have one more painting to do and I will be 75% caught up if there is such a thing! Yesterday I worked on this one, and on some boats, another small piece that had to be completed. Today I will be working on a BLUE TREE that will go to Sweden to live in a few weeks. Then I will be almost back on track. I painted so much this week I am out of white paint....and found out Asel Art is closed today for inventory...but hopefully Jim will get some out to me despite the closed doors. Early this morning Mom has to be up to go for a doctor's appt with Dr Steve. Dr. Paul Stephen Worrell has been our physician for twenty years. Ever since I moved back to Texas. Terry and I knew him in elementary school...
Odd Tree Central Park New York Landscape in Oil by Laurie Justus Pace 18 x 24 x 2 inches Inquiries: Laurie Deep into summer here in Texas I always find myself seeking shade when I am outside. When Mom and I were over at her new house for a visit two days ago, Kyle was there planning the back beds and the water feature. I kept urging mother into the shade. Temperatures are hovering at the 100 plus mark already and this is but June. Usually we see those in late July and early August, so that sort of concerns me. Rain is scarce and the water tables are beginning to drop. Then Terry told me about the Pythons that are spreading across the southern US and how far north we have to move to be safe. An epidemic of pythons? Sounds like something out of the Bible for sure. They are always seeking shade under something where you do not see them. Being aware in our lives is of utmost importance to our survival. We are precious to the Lord and He offers up all we need to make this journey. Som...
A Rose for Papa Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 18 x 24 x 2 inches Inquiries Welcome: Laurie SOLD Thanks for Supporting Daily Painters. Mom is sleeping soundly so I have no TV on and no music on. I am so behind on painting it does no good to even think about it right now. Changes in our family are occurring faster than I can blink my eye. She had fever again yesterday so on Friday we return to the doctor. My youngest brother is out of town with his job and my oldest brother is facing a trip to Houston to attend the funeral of one of his oldest friends. Change is a constant. Did you get that message yesterday? Wanted to make sure you were reading. This was one of the days I did not want to get up. I wanted to pull the blanket back over my shoulders and nestle down for two more hours of sleep, maybe three. But I knew if I didn't get up and work I might as well shut down the studio. I cannot hide from my work and the responsibilities I have in life despite this inner urge t...
Nibbles Horse Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 8 x 10 inches For inquiries: Laurie Mom is still on the mend here at our house. We have a quiet home with a healing essence with its cocooning feel. We are hoping to get her moved into her new place in a day or two. My brothers have worked with their wives to finish the unpacking and provide a sanctuary for her to live in while we take on the remaining boxes. There is still much to be sorted and given away. We all seem to horde things as we go through this life and if I have learned anything from all our moves, nothing is life or death...it is all just stuff. Terry and I were on our way back from FEDEX yesterday and on LBJ Freeway that circles Dallas. Traffic was horrendous. An 18 wheeler next to us kept drifting into our lane. I was on the phone trying to reach my older brother to make sure he had directions to the doctor's office for mom and I was visiting with my dad. I screeched as the truck lurched at us and Dad was concer...
Something's In the Air Horse Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 12 x 16 inches Contact me for information: Laurie Good Monday morning! The day is well underway and a dirty house must be cleaned today along with some paintings packed and some paintings started. Now that my day is fully lined out I can't help but wonder how much I will get done. Maybe half of it...hummm. I downloaded a new version of my Artist Butler and of course in the process again lost 1/3 of my files. They really need to design these programs for dummies. ALTHO I thought I was careful. I did a back up last week, but the only back up showing is one I did six weeks ago, or actually the end of April. That means about two days of record combing backward to reconstruct a mess. LOSS of email address for sure that I cannot retrieve. A stress I didn't need so I will ignore it for a few days and then go crazy. Sounds like something to take on the trip and work on in the car. Maybe we should fly, it would ...
PEARING UP by Laurie Justus Pace 20 x 40 inches Oil on Canvas SOLD Commissioned Contact me for other work: Laurie It is early Sunday. Mom is sleeping gently in the other room and I will tiptoe to paint this morning, no music, no news, just me and the colors pushing on canvas. Sometimes I enjoy quiet paints! I worry about the phones though. Brothers all started calling at seven thirty yesterday and my phones going off in succession is enough to wake anyone. I am reloading my book cover for the new book for hopefully the last time. I used EXACTLY the same cover we used for printing last time and it rejected it...go figure. Well, the words rejected it but I think they used it anyway. I have redone it again for the 8th time and am reloading it. Do you think God gets tired of reloading us? We all seem to have trouble seeing the real world we live in. Last night we watched "THE BUCKET LIST". Mom chuckled as we did through several scenes, but the ones that pulled your heart ...
YOUNG FLIGHT Horse Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 3 ft by 4 ft Oil on Canvas Contact me for inquiries: Laurie Well, Saturday is here, it is almost lunch time and I am finally blogging. We worked so hard yesterday I could not even feel my body by late afternoon. I arrived home about 8 to find mother here worse, spiked fever and chills. Between cold compresses, lots of pedialite and water, it was down to 101 at bedtime, down from over 102...and this morning we are at 99. My oldest brother and his family are still unpacking at the new house. My kids are all finishing up loads at the old house and youngest brother has dad. The rest of my day I am caring for mom and working here in the studio. Carol Spielman and I are finishing up our book for the Jackson Wyoming Show at the Rare Gallery opening on July 12th. This book is a combined labor of love. We also have an ad coming out in the next issue of American Art Collectors for the August Edition, should be out mid July. And our...
WILD WHITE by Laurie Justus Pace No Blog today... I am at mom's with the movers. Please pray for a safe move. Grace, Laurie
SKYWARD GAZE Horse Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 18 x 27 inches Contact me for inquiries: Laurie The move continues. My sister-in-law, Terrie, and I completed lining all the kitchen drawers, bathrooms and linen closets. We are ready for kitchen boxes to arrive. The brothers have been making runs with our truck cleaning out the shed and the garage and will begin some box moving today. We continue to keep dad occupied and his confusion grows and that worries me a bit. All prayers are needed. Bought new running shoes yesterday. Course this body will not be running in them. We shop at Luke's on Oak Lawn in Dallas. Fabulous place to get shoes and they do sell on line. You can wear them up to four weeks and if they are not right, you can take them back. Not many places you can do that. As we were checking out there was a large fat book with the words spread across the cover, BIKINI READY IN SIX WEEKS. Not this body. Six weeks? I don't think so. The author was upst...
