TINY BLUE IRIS Flower Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 18 x 18 inches SOLD Morning has broken and I am cleaning the studio. Terry is still asleep and the dogs are under foot at the moment. I put off my morning shower to finish doing the dirt in here. I just found my favorite exercise dvd, DANCE OFF the Inches with Juliane Arney. It is pretty good! I will be cranking it now that I found it. Want to figure out how to get my drying rack in here. I want to sell my large drafting board to make room for it. Terry did not want to do that when we moved here, but it has become a catch all for everything. It is not a place I can work. If he can get it fixed (The drawer is broken) I can set my watercolors up on the table and use it, but right now I do not like it in here. No catch alls are needed. I was glancing at daily word this morning before rolling out of bed. Sometimes I refer to the thoughts from there in my blog. I think I have to this morning. It touches on miracles, faith and
WHITE FLOWERS BLUE VASE Flower Art by Laurie Justus Pace 14 x 18 inches SOLD RAIN is falling and the lightening is bright this morning. Poor Annie Dog, we gave her meds last night for the storm as it was predicted to hit around three this morning. As we got up at five, it was still not here and she is not drugged very well as it is hitting. Weather forecast was a bit off. Meanwhile despite the rain, all is functioning here but my brain. I need to make more lists! I have quite a few commissions I will be working on today and tomorrow getting them started. I finished up the 24 x 48 of Azawakhs running on the beach. You will see it probably tomorrow in my blog. It is a very powerful painting. I heard from Morgan and Hillary in Washington DC. They were with my friend Niki of Sunrise Tourette and they were doing karaoke. Wish I could have been there to hear my son sing. Today they will begin teaching the art classes we put together last weekend so my prayers are with them as the pr
TINY IRIS Flower Art Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 15 x 30 inches SOLD ON DAILY PAINTERS> THAN YOU!!! I am up. I am up. I am up. Terry is not. Terry is not. Terry is not. BUT he will be. We did all of our shipping to the Blanco gallery yesterday and I sent about 6 paintings out to a new collector in Nevada. SO we had a lot of work going out. Sometimes in life we are faced with some major life changing decisions. Sometimes we don't want to face them and we put them off. EVERY day we face challenges and minor decisions and some of those we do not want to deal with either. Many of us turn to our "mother" or our "best friend" to have a discussion about things. (Goes back to my brother's story about the pubs in the UK and how beneficial they are.) But there is always something that comes up that is even too difficult to put in words. We don't want others that love us to know what anguish is in our hearts and what pulls at our minds in the m
Early Blooms Magnolia Flower Art by Laurie Justus Pace 18 x 27 inches Oil on Canvas Contact me to purchase: Laurie Oh my gosh. It is Wednesday early, not quite six and I am up to paint immediately! I do have to pull some clothes together for donations being picked up today and put some old furniture out for additional donations. But I will wait till daylight. It is far from now with the DLS time. My mother is mending with the love of the Lord and her family at home. Thank you again for your prayers with her hospitalization. I am working on a commission pieces today for a horse ranch in Lufkin, Texas. It is a 3 ft by 4 ft painting of three of their favorite babies. AND then will sketch out a horse for a commission piece that will go live in Washington DC. After that work for the new gallery in Massachusetts, small pieces at least and hopefully to return to a portrait of a young girl that has been pending since the fall. Every day I come in this studio hoping to catch up, but hav
DUTCH BLOOMS Flower Art by Laurie Justus Pace 22 x 28 inches Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas SOLD Looking a bit closer: SOLD thru Daily Painters. THANKS! JOY JOY JOY! This painting was pure Joy. I had been to Asel Art to pick up some light yellow paint and bought some big brushes. I used them on the back ground on this painting and then piled the paint dimensionally on the flowers. It is thick! The painting smiles at you when you look at it. Pure Joy. From a suggestion by someone that wanted a painting and missed it, I have added the Paypal buy it now button! Will see if this works I guess. Thinking back over the years I remember the words ACTS. I know many of you remember it is for praying. Adoration Confession Thanksgiving and Supplication. So many times when we rush to pray it is in desperation for a panic situation or a frantic need. Doing this too often you forget to thanks or to praise the Lord for His greatness. Remembering how to act with ACTS sometimes brings me back to ce
Yellow Bowl of Roses Flower Art by Laurie Justus Pace 11 x 14 inches on Linen Panel SOLD RAIN RAIN RAIN...and then SNOW SNOW SNOW. Yesterday it was 75 degrees and beautiful for the past three days. Late last night the rain moved in and temps have plummeted to the low forties and still dropping. The storms woke us both about three this morning but we dosed back asleep under the warm blankets until almost nine this morning. What a blessing it was! We are off to Whole Foods, Asel Art and back home to work. I have several commissions to finish up here. The painting I posted today was from an antique yellow vase I have that has to be close to 100 years old. I just repotted things out in the garden room and pulled the use of some of those flowers in the antique bowl. It bring life and light on a rainy day. I did not want to use the word gloomy attached to rainy. When the rain woke us at three I began to pray and meditate. I imagined reaching my arms to heaven up through the rain and
SUN ON THE PATIO Flower Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 24 x 24 inches SOLD on Daily Painters! Thanks for Supporting the Self Respresenting Artist! Sunday has dawned with bright sun and warmer temps. They will fall by tomorrow with storms predicted to move in! This is a fast blog this morning as it is late already. I painted this yesterday. Kay was over painting again. Yesterday I painted from five thirty in the morning until seven last night...NON STOP. My feet really hurt this morning. I am pretty tired. I had several commission pieces I was working on as well as paintings for the Galleries in Massachusetts and California. The gift of light is obvious on this painting. The play of shadows and light are exciting to paint and I know they bring excitement to our lives. Our journeys take us into the dark valleys and we must remember that faith in the Father will see us through the darkness. I give thanks today for the light of a new friendship with Kay. She stayed painting yes
Sunflowers Oil Painting by Laurie Pace 18 x 27 inches To purchase click here. I am here, barely. Short blog as it may be. I painted this painting last week. As you can imagine I have not painted in three days. I got up this morning, have not showered yet, feeling rather weak. The house is filthy since I have not been up to keep up the sweeping to keep the dust down. There is still a huge trench in the yard for the repaired gas line and the dogs bring in that soil. It tends to spread as we go in and out of that back room where I paint. I have literally lived in our bedroom for the past three days with the crockpot steaming peppermint into the air and my mom dropped off a cool mist humidifier. My coughing is much better. Last night I had sweet potatoes for dinner. I have lost six pounds, but not sure I like to lose it this way. I never drink juices, I eat the real fruit, but I had Morgan pick up some real OJ Not concentrate...with pulp and I have sipped on about 8-12 oz each da
Brilliance in Red ~ Silky Red Flower Art by Laurie Justus Pace 16 x 16 inches Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas Contact me for pricing at Email: Laurie This is a familiar composition to others I have painted. It is a relaxing composition of assertiveness. I hope you caught that one! They are gorgeous in person and make you feel like you are in a garden. A warm garden would be nice right now. The house is at 45, my studio is at 62. There is no hope for heat until probably Wednesday or Thursday. The men got the hole about done. It has to be 24 inches deep for city inspection. We have to do the plumbing part and then get a plumber to OK the work ...of course that is after the permit procedure from the city. WHY did I move to the city? Someone remind me again. I just pray at this point to have heat before next Saturday when I am hosting an open house for perspective students and their parents. Meanwhile I went to bed dirty, cold and hungry. I felt homeless, but knew there was a structur
Early Morning Tea ~ Contemporary Still Life by Laurie Justus Pace 8 x 10 Oil on Linen Panel Contact me for Price. Laurie Brrr Cold outside it is. I am up and ready for a hard day in the studio. I was rather distracted yesterday between my haircut, shopping with Stacey and added adventures through out the day. This painting was finished this morning with last touches. Simple splashes of color combining with light to bring out an early morning cup of tea from last Thursday. Shopping with Stacey. My daughter has become QUEEN of COUPONS. Don't know exactly when she contracted the illness but it has it grasp on her pretty tight. I am not one to scoff at coupons. I remember when in my early days I had a pouch of neatly clipped out coupons all organized into their cozy little slots waiting to be plucked out and turned in at the cash register. I believe I did this in and out over about a ten years period. I finally trashed the little coupon holder about 18 years ago. I haven'
PINK PEONY ~ Flower Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 8 x 10 Oil on Linen Panel Contact me to Purchase. Laurie Saturday early finds me finishing up this peony to post on Daily Painters. I really enjoyed painting this one and will probably do quite a few this size right now. This is a smaller format for me and really an adjustment to painting small. I am accustomed to turning on my Chris Tomlin Christian Music and rocking with my palette knife on huge canvas....This was painted to Antje Duvekot. She is one of my links to the right and absolutely one of my favorite female singers to paint to. Her song about Alzheimer makes me weep while I paint. My dad has alzheimers. Yesterday we walked UP the huge hill we live at the bottom of! We meet so many new neighbors. Gayle lives at the top of the hill with her husband and children. There must have been 8 children playing in the yard. Truly wonderful! We walked about a mile and a half circling the local elementary school. On the way we
