The Painting: Back in 2005 a man by the name of James Whistler sent me a cd full of his prize orchids. They have provided much inspiration for paintings. This was one of my favorites. I think he has this one. Painted on canvas from Rupen at Canvasplace.com, I used Holbein Duo Oils for a smooth creamy blend with a small brush.
The Thought: Locked in a dungeon... have you been there? I guess today we call it jail. No I have not been there, but I have visited there and that was quite enough. Carrying through though from yesterday's thought, sometimes we lock ourselves into our own jail of thought. Our world is so limited to earthly ideals and situations that we continue to miss the big picture. We are often looking for answers to things that we feel need resolution, when in fact they are things that do not matter...our earthly problems.
This one is hard for me. I am a mom and caught up in every single earthly matter around me and the members of my family. I learned from my mother before me, that I must fix everything I can fix here on earth as that is my job as 'mother' . This was not the correct lesson, but parts of it are true. Love always, love fully, love with out expecting anything back. Love as our God loves us. When a mom tries to fix everything, she is giving the wrong answer to her family. Each situation is a learning situation for that person and her interference continues to show her own need for change... letting go and letting God work.
God's silence to our problems is the answer. We are often waiting for answers to things that will never be answered. How long do you fret over it? When is it time to move on? His answers are heavenly ones...are you listening?
Post note: Jon our grandson was over late yesterday for dinner and he wanted to paint. I just finished 16 hours on a commission piece, but as tired as I was, we painted.
Here is the slide show. Terry was not in the studio for the beginning pictures:
