A Rose for Papa Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 18 x 24 x 2 inches Inquiries Welcome: Laurie SOLD Thanks for Supporting Daily Painters. Mom is sleeping soundly so I have no TV on and no music on. I am so behind on painting it does no good to even think about it right now. Changes in our family are occurring faster than I can blink my eye. She had fever again yesterday so on Friday we return to the doctor. My youngest brother is out of town with his job and my oldest brother is facing a trip to Houston to attend the funeral of one of his oldest friends. Change is a constant. Did you get that message yesterday? Wanted to make sure you were reading. This was one of the days I did not want to get up. I wanted to pull the blanket back over my shoulders and nestle down for two more hours of sleep, maybe three. But I knew if I didn't get up and work I might as well shut down the studio. I cannot hide from my work and the responsibilities I have in life despite this inner urge t
Looking Up Town Scape by Laurie Justus Pace SOLD OFF DAILY PAINTERS! THANK YOU! The still and the quiet of Sunday morning. Gotta love it! It is so nice to have Terry home on Sundays. We will be heading to church in the next hour; I have to blog fast, shower and dress yet. One of my strongest beliefs in life is to spread the light. God has gifted each of us with individual strengths and talents to use in our journey here on earth. When you blend that in with the spirit of the Lord, you have a fullness in your life that spills out into the world around you. Nurturing yourself through meditation and prayer keeps your mind, body and spirit balanced and you are able to share with others. He plants in each of us the fruit that flourishes to feed others. Through our constant relationship with God, He fills each of us with His love. Today let PEACE rule your heart, the peace of the Lord. Pursue a life of peace today and pass it on. Grace, Laurie "The Fruit of the Spirit is love, jo
THE RED BRIDGE Landscape tree painting by Laurie Justus Pace 18 x 27 inches Oil on Canvas SOLD I went from a wonderful stress free Sunday to yesterday. I can usually judge my stress by the amount of sweets I eat in a day. The more stress, them more bad stuff I eat. Let's just say I went through Two SLIM Klondikes and one half of a weight watcher bar. That is a lot for me. Some days I do not touch this at all and yesterday...wow. It was a slide down from that plateau. Do you remember what your yesterday was like? Did you experience a range of emotions and how did you handle it all? In today's world we are bombarded by so many things happening around us. Our responses and reactions are steeped in emotions of happy, anger, excited, worried, scared, embarrassed, overwhelmed, guilty, inadequate...etc. How are we suppose to cope? It was late evening when Terry announced we had to go to Home Depot to get soil. I had felt battered all day by various events and really did not want
DOG Boy and Dog by Laurie Justus Pace 8 x 10 Oil on Canvas My Buddy and Me Series Contact me for commission work or pricing: Laurie I have five minutes. FIVE minutes to do this blog and hit the easel. Charlene sent me an article about NOT GETTING THINGS DONE... that was me again yesterday. It is the constant life interruptions that get me off track, from paying bills, to answering phones, to trying to get phone service with ATT and dump Time Warner. I have always said "If people would just do their jobs..." because after I spent 45 min on Monday lining up service on ATT, I had to redo it yesterday again because someone didn't finish the order. BUT the good side - bad side was, we cannot keep our phone number we just got and trying to learn another new number doesn't sit well with either Terry or I. We were able to get his dad's old number that he had for 50 years...so we both know the number. By March 26th I will be officially ATT. Good riddance to TWC and
Peonies in Cream Flower Art by Laurie Justus Pace 8 x 10 Oil on Linen Panel Contact me for pricing through email: Laurie Sunday dawns...the heat is on. Reminds me of the Christmas Story with the BB gun thing. The family has the heater in the basement that the dad is always tinkering on.... Brother Kirk heard the bearing that rattles...then Terry came home and did something with a brick. It is running and I have heat. I will not question this miracle. I am late to the easel and so much to do on canvas. Itching to paint and see what evolves this morning. Life is such, floating along and evolve with what God places in your life. Stacey phoned this morning to share the sad news that she had to rush my grand dog, Gabbie to the ER Vet. Gabbie ate two pounds of chocolate.... she is a miniature schnauzer. Need I say more? We have her in prayer this morning as they await news. Hoping your Sunday is filled with His Grace. I will pray for all of you as you face so much in your lives w
Sisters Chasing Butterflies - Impressionistic Art by Laurie Justus Pace 24 x 36 Oil on Canvas SOLD /Commissioned Painting Contact me for Commission Work: Email: Laurie WE HAVE HEAT! I even took a hot shower this morning and got to wash my hair. PRAISE the Lord for the plumber. This painting was a commissioned piece for a collector in New York. I painted these two little ones when they were VERY little. Sisters in the Sand. I will post that one tomorrow for you. This is for their room. I kept in mind pinks and purples and light greens! Today is full of packing paintings and trying to clean up the house a bit. It was neglected over the freeze period. Also am battling with Quicken on both the MAC and the PC. Any Quicken Coaches out there? No one speaks English with the Quicken HELP on the phones. Can't get anything from the forum either. So much for working on taxes. It is obvious the Lord wants my energy directed elsewhere. Make a plan and hear the chuckles from heaven.
BURSTING BLOOMS ~ Flower Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 8 x 10 Oil on Linen Panel Contact me for Pricing Email: Laurie If I could type with rattled teeth I would be doing so. Hard enough to type with gloves on and will be more challenging to paint with gloves on this morning. I was happily chatting with a friend when hubby arrived home yesterday and announced it smelled like gas outside the front door. I hurried through the door to the outside and almost passed out. We did further investigation and he did leave the propane turned on at the grill on the patio next to the kitchen. He promptly cut it all off and we waited ten minutes and investigated again. More gas smell but not as strong. We called the City Gas company. The Instructions left me shaking with laughter despite the seriousness of the situation. Realize it is 34 degrees outside at this time. The woman is saying do not flip any switches in the house on or off. Do not turn anything off that is running. Gather your

TOMORROW you will FINALLY see more pictures of the inside of the house. Billie and I are finishing up the rooms in preparation for Christmas. Yesterday we bought out Lowe's garden area that had azealas half price...HUGE azealas Half price....along with roses, begonias, pansies etc. We were pushing through Lowe's with three baskets/carts over flowing FULL of flowering bushes and lush green plants, while outside it was blowing cold with winds at 35 mph and clouds and cold. I have been working on still unpacking boxes and cleaning basic rooms and Billie has been busy with that garden room. It really rocks. We lit candles and sat in the room last night with Terry and the dogs and just enjoyed the ambiance. Tonight is my little brothers Annual Christmas Eve party one day early. I get to
JACKSON THREE ~ Abstract Horse Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 22 x 28 inches Acrylic on Gallery Wrap Canvas Contemporary ART for the home. SOLD Short on time...have to finish four paintings today...two are underway and thank goodness the other two are small. THE CHRISTMAS CRUNCH is here and tie in moving and I am straying from the word Calm. The poor dogs are wandering around the maze of boxes very leery of what is happening. Terry says they will need a therapist downsizing their yard from an acre to a tiny city sq of land. This week has found them connected in a new way, laying shoved up against each other and when I am in the studio they lay snuggled up in the center of this small room. I literally cannot even move from the desk to get to the easel. Morgan packed the kitchen on Friday, so when I have the stress need to snack, there is nothing there. Actually there is brown rice and a box of Cheerios. I made a small pot of brown rice yesterday and ate it for lunch/dinner at thr
HERD ~ Western Art Horse Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 18 x 24 inches Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas Contemporary Art for the Home. Contact me for pricing. Laurie Pace PACKING UP THE DREAMS GOD'S PLANTED..... Friday is near dawning, I am blogging and then I am packing. I finished the painting above yesterday morning. Yesterday was also my last day here with my students in Justin Texas. I have watched so many of these youngsters grow up. Aly has been with me since Kindergarten and she is in Junior High School now. She is a superior artist that has incredible depth of talent and it has been a gift to me to be a part of her life. Another promising student is Sophia. She is an engaging child that has been with me three years. She is talented not just in her art, but also in her piano playing. In art you sit in wonderment as she paints and what you might shudder about, she immediately rolls the painting into an unbelievable finish of technique and color. There is Krysta that can
Golden Red ~ Abstract Horse Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 18 x 36 inches Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas Contemporary Art for the Home Contact me for prices and commission art work. Laurie Pace A knifed painting with much action for attention and energy in the room! Thick creamy oils applied with the palette knife always brings interesting compositions! Well, we closed on both houses yesterday. BUT we do not move for 10 days. It is the count down. I snapped a few more pictures when we were there on Monday. I hope you enjoy them. THIS is the furniture of the old owner...mine is not there yet....give me the 10 days please! This is the loft in the Master bedroom. Terry told me he wanted to close it in for a cedar closet but I say no because of the light that would be lost coming in the windows in the loft. This is standing in the entry hall looking south into the living room and dining room. The glass doors on the left open up to the enclosed garden room. It is heated and cooled. I w
ROSES in a Bowl ~ Contemporary Flower Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 30 x 30 inches Acrylic on Gallery Wrapped Canvas Contact me for prices! Okay the size is not exact over the fireplace, but it is a big painting! It is 30 x 30 inches. This is a delightful painting, very contemporary. If it doesn't sell it will hang in Frank's House, which is what we are calling the new house. I always like working with the framing of acrylic bands around the edges....and the basic colors scream contemporary. I have slept so well for the past three nights. I know the Lord is speaking to me to be calm because everything we are dealing with is not solid yet. Well, actually nothing is predictable but death and going to be with the Lord, but meanwhile I have a house to pack, paintings to paint and knees to pray on. Is your life in confusion or chaos right now? Often life gets away from us during this time period between Thanksgiving and Christmas. There is triple the activity in our lives, com
FIVE TRUE ~ Abstract Horse Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 15 x 30 inches Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas SOLD on Daily Painters! Thank you! Contemporary Art for the home. Wednesday finds a turkey in the oven. We are eating at Stacey Beth's tomorrow but she has a crowd coming and we would have ZERO leftovers, so I normally fix on Wednesday for Terry and I to have left overs for the next few days! He is coming home and making CHILI too! It is going to be cold shortly . Seventy degrees right now and hopefully falling soon! Tom are you ready to eat tomorrow? Can't wait to hug your neck. Charlene I wish you were here. We would share a glass of wine and many laughs and hugs. Niki I hope you have arrived in NY safely. Give my best to Helen and Joe. Jan, I know you will be neck deep in family, enjoy them all. Kathy, I share my deepest prayers with you today. I know not what your group is doing, but I know you will be serving those around you. Yesterday I began packing up referen
JACKSON HOLE TWO ~ Abstract Horse Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 24 x 24 inches Oil on Gallery Wrapped Canvas Contemporary Art for the Home Saturday dawns but this body has been up for four hours. I was working on the book I started three years ago. Actually there are three books done and I am doing my reviewing and rewriting. Once we are moved I will be blogging parts of it to you but will let you know where and when at a later date. This painting is an acrylic painting with the combo of using TAR with the paint to create a thick substance. This is used in the mane and the tail and surrounding the horse with color. Today I am shooting my kids. Yeah, that is what I said, SHOOTING THEM! With my camera. They are heading down to Nacogdoches to celebrate their grandfather's 90th birthday and I am doing some pictures of them together and will make prints on the big printer. Hopefully Stacey will get it framed! MAYBE I will post it tomorrow for you to see my grown angels. THEN I am h
PRETTY BOY ~ Horse Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 8 x 10 x 2 inches Oil on Deep Gallery Wrap Canvas Contemporary Art for the Home Thursday is teaching day and I have much prep work to do for class, but I am hoping to paint some early this morning. Esp if I do not blog too long! This is one I finished yesterday. Very delicate small brush but still maintaining a fresh look to the realism. Daily Word was interesting today. What is your perception of what you can do? Today is a new day. Whatever happened yesterday is gone. WAY gone. Perception is said to be the inner knowledge of truth. Give where you can today, contribute the gifts the Lord has provided and know each day reveals deeper wisdom to your journey. Shalom, Laurie “And the man looked up and said, ‘I can see people, but they look like trees, walking.’ Then Jesus laid his hands on his eyes again; and he looked intently and his sight was restored, and he saw everything clearly.”—Mark 8:24-25
Call of Morning ~ Equine Horse Art by Laurie Justus Pace 8 x 10 x 2 inches Oil on Deep Gallery Wrap Canvas Contemporary Art for your Home I am sitting here Monday morning, early... it is five a.m. I jumped out of bed to get the dogs out and feed before the storm hits in the next thirty minutes...thought to get my blog out too. I will then shut it all down and either crawl back into bed or start painting. I added a place in the top right corner of my blog that you can sign up with your email and be contacted with my postings. Terry finished all the boxing last night YEAH! Nothing like getting the work out of the way quickly! Morgan and Hillary were over yesterday to paint. He posted a new nude and some gerbera daisies and later this week a fantastic nude will go up for sale on ebay. He is unemployed right now and painting. Have you ever come across DETOUR signs when you were out on errands? It is not too bad if you are in familiar territory and you grumbled a bit about going ou
Falling Colors ~ Autumn Trees Landscape by Laurie Justus Pace 18 x 24 inches Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas Contemporary Art for the Home It is Friday. Morgan is coming to paint both today and tomorrow, and for those of you that always laugh about my food and eating out...TODAY IS LONESOME SPUR NIGHT. Absolutely the best hamburgers in Texas. I cannot wait. I literally will stay focused on this all day today in anticipation. Did I ever mention their unusual onion rings? I love onion rings and to this date no one does them better than Dairy Queen, except Lonesome Spur. They put some green spice in it (Basil? I have zero idea) but those onions rings are fabulous. Meanwhile back to painting. I finished this landscape yesterday and it is already sold. FRESH FRESH colors make you want to take a walk through the trees in Central Park new York. But waking this morning it is 48 degrees outside. I have every EVERY window open in the house I can open...isn't brrr wonderful? Today I am gra
AGGRAVATING ITCH ~ Horse Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 4 x 6 inches Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas Contemporary Art for the Home Good Thursday morning. I did two small pieces yesterday and this is one. I only wish I could photograph it better, hard to get this small guys with out shine. His detail is actually pretty good, you just can't see it! Check out two more blogs up. They are new magazines that I am helping with as a visiting writer...both are geared to the west. She's Out West Magazine and Open Range Magazine . My artwork will be featured in the first edition of She's Out West! You might want to order that issue at least, but I know their subscription rates are good. Open Range is on it's third publication and She's Out West will premier this December. Do you feel your divine potential is a natural way of life for you? That is a deep question. Are you doing/working at something that feeds you back to life...nourishing you and satisfying you? God ha
Catching the Gaze ~ Horse Painting By Laurie Justus Pace 15 X 30 inches Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas Contemporary Art for the Home Wednesday is WORK WORK WORK day. I am back in the studio and running hard. Hopefully no interruptions until I get things underway. When I hit Wednesday I do not even eat until I have started a major amt of work that needs to be done. This piece was inspired by a close up from a larger piece. I had wanted to paint it several weeks ago, but had not had time until now. Vivid bold colors adorn this one. Yesterday was rather restful for me. I spent the afternoon alone at my moms. I tuned her harp and I worked on some book things on my laptop. We left Dallas to come home after traffic. Terry spent the day moving more equipment at his dads. He says still ONE MORE day to work next week to finish it off. He said when he was in the house (it is empty) he had a huge flashback to being very young when they moved in. He said they didn't have much furniture in the
