Contemporary Art for the Home

Wednesday is WORK WORK WORK day. I am back in the studio and running hard. Hopefully no interruptions until I get things underway. When I hit Wednesday I do not even eat until I have started a major amt of work that needs to be done. This piece was inspired by a close up from a larger piece. I had wanted to paint it several weeks ago, but had not had time until now. Vivid bold colors adorn this one.

Yesterday was rather restful for me. I spent the afternoon alone at my moms. I tuned her harp and I worked on some book things on my laptop. We left Dallas to come home after traffic. Terry spent the day moving more equipment at his dads. He says still ONE MORE day to work next week to finish it off. He said when he was in the house (it is empty) he had a huge flashback to being very young when they moved in. He said they didn't have much furniture in the beginning and the house had that same empty ring. He envisioned the gorgeous wood floors shining. His mother was in love with her home and cherished it. She always had everything clean and sparkling. Those are such good memories to have. His mom was a caretaker of her home and family...one of the best.

An important thing many of us learn as children is to take care of our own things, and then it branches out to caring for family things, and if you have younger siblings it is then learning to care for them. As you get older you learn to care for many others in your life. Giving is the key to happiness. My grandmother used to talk about that whenever I would moan as a teenager that it was hard to be happy. For those "professional" caretakers...lol, like us moms and wives, sometimes we carry it to extremes and we begin to lose ourselves. Care giving can become a full time job for some of us. What we need to remember is to care for ourselves first. That was the earliest lesson we learned in life and so easily forgotten with age for some folks that are so focused on the happiness and needs of others. God keeps this all simple...he care for each of us, but we tend to forget that taking control over things and often complicating them.

Reflect today on care taking and what your role is in life. You cannot do it all.

Shalom,
Laurie

Situation with empty rooms and house. Flashback to the past. That is exactly what I like to achieve with some of my images. Especially with my last project at www.richard-vanek.eu.

Just writing you email, sorry that I was away so long.
