I seem to exist between the two.  I did complete the paintings for the new show opening at Mirada Fine Art this next month in Colorado! I promise to share photos as soon as I can.  I am preparing to paint another large piece and probably a face again.    Meanwhile, I just completed a horse on birch above.  My studio does not call me as often as it did. I have spent 23 years painting daily and marketing and at age 68, my other gifts are calling to me.  Piano, guitar, singing, writing etc.   Also, Hubby has been down a bit and I have been busy cooking healthy things for him to feel better.  I did notice this week that this blog still has very high ranking and that is something I am honored by your presence visiting with me here if only to see my art.

This is a time of forty days before the Crucifixion and the Resurrection, and we are in day 7 right now. It is a time spent in reflection and preparing to celebrate the Lord's Resurrection. Many spend Lent seeking the Lord in prayer, practicing self control by fasting or literally giving up habits or things of personal importance.  My mind wrapped around Lent this year believing it truly allows us all a time to reset and renew our relationship with God and with Christ. Often praying is a go-to in time of need of bad health or negative things are happening through the year. We then call upon God or Jesus to save us, bolster us up, walk with u

Just jumping straight into this painting and the process.  I began with a different surface as I sketched out three horses and began pulling the paint.  It looked painful, so I put it out of its misery and began pulling colors together and flipping the canvas around.   Then I saw the two horses as clear as can be. Forward with more pulled paint and you have Sunrise Friend.  The beauty of these painted ponies is the style. I have been collected for these since about 2005, so over 15 years. I paint other styles of horses and lately really pretty ones on birch. But these paintings are freedom and love knitted together on the surface with intuitive painting and discovery.  Remember on my site right now this year is 199 paintings for $199 each.  I think I am up to abou

Discernment in today's world. Laurie Pace

One definition I found was: "Discernment: The quality of being able to grasp and comprehend what is obscure."   I laughed out loud when I read "Discernment is basically a power or ability to see what is not evident to the average mind."     Discernment is the ability to decide between right and wrong or truth and error. How do you make the distinction between them?  In today's world I am struggling to abide with my Jesus in the midst of the storm.   Read more here on my main blog. I am praying for your spirit and your direction.   “The person without the Spirit does not accep

It doesn’t struggle to be different than a rose. It doesn’t have to. It is different. And there’s room in the garden for every flower. You didn’t have to struggle to make your face different than anyone else’s on earth. It just is. You are unique because you were created that way. Look at little children in kindergarten. They’re all different without trying to be. As long as they’re unselfconsciously being themselves, they can’t help but shine. It’s only later, when children are taught to compete, to strive to be better than others, that their natural light becomes distorted”  Marianne Williamson These were inspired by tulips at the store a few weeks ago. Came home and knifed them out into this beautiful 5 x 7 p

Each day we really need to each focus on something that makes us smile. With Hubby near 70 and me newly at 68... we fall into "THAT" category... he feels like we are jailed.  304 days ago, we were living retirement life and enjoying our grandchildren and looking forward to things like visiting the arboretum, traveling to see friends in East Texas and a trip planned for Mascoutah, Illinois.  None of that happened. What have you done this year, or the past 300 days in lock down?   We grocery shop at the early open hours for people of our age...?  We are in sync with our daughter and her family. They have stayed quarantined so we can see thei

And then it covers them up snug, you know, with a white quilt; and perhaps it says, "Go to sleep, darlings, till the summer comes again.”  ― Louis Carroll - Alice In Wonderland  Nothing is more chilling that the rawness of winter.  Winter is here in full force.  We are almost to Feb and the memories of Feb last year are crashing in around us.  A close family member was hospitalized, an aunt died at 94 and Covid arrived... with a shut down March 2nd.   The rawness is still with us. The Covid is still with us. The "WINTER" is still here forcing us into isolation and madness.  Meanwhile I am painting forward all I can!  If you want to read more on my website bl
