Spring Evening Dahlia

Glancing back with this Spring Dahlia painting created in 2011. Right now I have a new gathering of colorful Dahlias and Begonias to plant in pots outside my studio window this weekend. Still cold today, but spring is upon us in a few more days with decent 65-80 degrees each day. 

Philippians 4:13 "I can do all things through Him that strengthens me."

 For some reason this morning I woke with the feeling of freedom.  Feels really odd but wonderful!!!  With this is the relaxation of my mind and taking time to 'feel' and 'take in' the good things and God has provided many. It is often too easy to feel pressured or worried and keeping that uneasiness going for weeks at a time. I truly cannot remember the last time I felt this free. This is empowered by my faith. Obviously I have been living the last two years in a battle zone with heavy trials. I now 'let' go to live only through Him.

That poor little 8 x 10 pony was loved by a company to do very large prints and it was not here for me to even use to scan... so I created something with the same heart, a kindred spirit. The underlays are pages from a western book and then torn papers of different varieties were added along with stains of paint and purposeful areas of paint.  This would not be a painting I would do today, but the goal was to capture the spirit of the first painting. We lost another dear family member this week. She has celebrated her 'continuation' day and is now with her mom and dad and her other cousins.  She leaves behind a family that will always celebrate her gentleness.  My aunt was special to all of us. She loved each of us dearly for who we were and was always ready with a hug or a 'good job'.    My memories are of breakfast pastries smeared with butter on top. It was not like they were not sweet enough as they were, but at her small kitch...
