Tentative - Hesitant

Have you ever been hesitant or felt tentative about doing something? The painting change from Oils to Acrylics is where I am at with both words.  I have painted in oils almost exclusively since 1981.  This change is being made for health reasons as well as not having 5-10 paintings hanging around the house trying to dry to send out!  I can tell you back in the days of ebay from 2002 till 2010... I was making over 100k a year and they were all oil. Painting at least 6-7 pieces a week and they were LARGE paintings from 24 x 36 up to 36 x 48 inches.  That is where the galleries found me and eventually I left ebay for the galleries.  (The plus to my oils, if I get them on my clothes, I can wash them out. Acrylic... nope. You are done with paint free clothes! When you are done painting... it is all over your hands, so I have to get use to gloves. Oils were easy to wipe off.)

When we downsized homes 7 years ago, we went from 3100 sq ft to 1850 sq feet. Yes, we moved across the street... easy move but I had a large studio in the upstairs of the larger house and could easily teach.  Things are tighter here.

The painting above is acrylic and I loved doing it.  I took it slow and I glazed colors over colors and spent 4-5 days on it. At this time I am scrambled painting SMALL paintings to sell for $100-$200. That almost requires me to go back to my oils...but this next 10 day period... I will work with the acrylics and try not to rant about them on this blog.

Sometimes in life you have to stand your ground and try something out, even if you are dragging your feet to do it... that Hesitant word. When you pick up your feet and slowly start moving... you are now tentatively moving forward.  I know everyone of you has had to face doing this in your lifetime. Change is not easy... and especially as you get older! Be brave and step out and try something new. You don't know what you are missing in life. ♥️♥️♥️

Where shall I go from your Spirit? Or where shall I flee from your presence? If I ascend to heaven, you are there! If I make my bed in Sheol, you are there! If I take the wings of the morning and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, even there your hand shall lead me, and your right hand shall hold me." Psalm 139:7-10

A Bit of Wonder Contemporary Horse Oil Daily Painting Art by Laurie Justus Pace 24 x 30 x 2 inches of thick buttery oils! Contact me to purchase: Laurie "This is the day that the Lord has made; Let us rejoice and be glad in it". Psalm 118:24 It was a day of celebration yesterday as Lauren Gracen was born. Stacey began her labor around nine in the morning and was ready to push by 12:15, but they held her off while getting things set up. Took four good contractions with multiple pushes and the baby was there! All grandparents accounted for to count the toes and fingers! My admiration is for my daughter and her bravery and calmness despite the tension and newness of what she faced. I was honored to be there as the baby was delivered seeing my granddaughter push out into the light and take her first breathe... and then cry... and that she did. Terry was able to participate and he and Larry helped with pushing and getting Stacey upright for the process and then Terry was hon...

Arrival...Refrigerator?

© Laurie Pace        Graphics One Design 2024 Arrival Oil on Canvas  SOLD   by Laurie Pace   Proverbs 16:3 "Commit to the Lord whtever you do, and he will establish your plans."   Worrisome times laced with prayers.   The world seems like a scary place lately. Praying for everyone affected by the last two hurricanes.  My adventures today were the result of a dead refrigerator. I have loved my Kitchen Aid refrigerator very much. The first one in the 'French Kitchen' look died at 13 months. Hubby wanted the same refrigerator. Well this one made it four years and a few months. I cannot believe appliances are not made to last longer...but wait, is that because they make more money if we have to replace it in 4-5 years?  You replace your mattress at least every 7 years... and your washer dryer, you might get 7 years out of those... The stoves seem to make it closer to 10 years. We are Lowe's customers, and Robert ...

It has to head to Mirada Fine Art in about three or four weeks... meanwhile it will be banished to the room with the dehumidifier in it.  Stay tuned at Mirada Fine Art with Steve Sonnen for more details about what is happening to this "crowd" from my Good People Series.  In fact, drop Steve an email and ask to be added to the mailing list for this special gathering.  Good food, good friends and good art.   What more could you want?
