"For you were called to be free, brothers and sisters; only don't use this freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but serve one another through love. For the whole law is fulfilled in one statement: Love your neighbor as yourself. But if you bite and devour one another, watch out, or you will be consumed by one another." Galatians 5:13-15

I remember putting this first book together and weaving into it the daily blogs I was writing. No I did not use ALL of the blogs or ALL of the paintings in 2008, just a variety of ones I did that year. At this time I was painting a little bit of everything, and some were photos from prior years. I am not sure where all the photos are today of those paintings, but I am thrilled my husband found this book in a box in the attic with another book I did after this. I use to put out a new book every year. I did not make money by doing it, but I did satisfy my collectors with something special.  I will be photographing the pages inside for the blog posts coming up.

WHY BLOG?

Why would I blog?  My youngest brother was sharing his travels back in 2000 going forward. That is when I discovered Google Blogger.  I started blogging in probably 2004 maybe. I have published 3846 blogs since then and if you do the math I am going to round it up and say approx 200 days of blogging each year.  BUT, that being said, some years I blogged every single day but in the area of 2013-today... it was hit and miss.

Most people do not grasp the full benefit of blogging on GOOGLE BLOGGER.  They have the best SEO.  Could you doubt that?  When people search something I have 3846 posts out there that are visited at any time depending on the search.

My first posts spoke of what I was doing and about the painting I posted. As I turned the corner into 2007, I began blogging about life and how God worked in my life. It was in February of that year that I truly opened my heart when my oldest grandson died at age 11. Over the following 10 days, I heard from people all over the world. That was my first realization that someone out there was actually reading what I posted daily.  It spurred me on to the realization if I reached only one person a day with my writing about our Lord, His Word and life as we live it on earth, I wanted to pass this message on to others. There is always hope. He goes before us always.

This was the first book to share all types of my work, and not just my horses. I hope you will enjoy the days ahead taking a look back at the jump from teaching art to actually using art to make a living.  I had worked as a graphic designer with an ad agency, head of the department, but this was working and painting.  My roots to sell and tune my painting started on Ebay. I will blog about that later.  This blog was meant to encourage you to use the gifts He has given you and to serve others those gifts through love.

In the world we live in today, here in America you no longer recognize Americans... the American spirit of home, faith, family and apple pie as they use to say. People with not just integrity to step out to help others, but people that forget about themselves and put others first.  God is our Father and it is learning from His Word, the scriptures through reading and prayer you begin to grasp the 'do unto others as you would do unto yourself'.  Think about that one... till my next blog.

Not sure I can blog on the weekend, but I will give it a go.

Follow the Spirit of God here as well as the Spirit of the Paint... with Elle aka Laurie Pace

I've followed your blog for years, started with seeing your horses as I remember. I use my blog as a journal with art and thoughts. Nice to see someone still using their blog. It isn't as popular as it once was with everyone liking social media, quick and fast. Thanks for keeping it up.

Mixed Media Collage Horse Paintings by Texas Artist Laurie Justus Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2013 Horse Collage Fall 2013  12 x 18 inches Mixed Media on Canvas.  This was an intentional paint to imitate one of the 100 ponies I did in 2012. That poor little 8 x 10 pony was loved by a company to do very large prints and it was not here for me to even use to scan... so I created something with the same heart, a kindred spirit. The underlays are pages from a western book and then torn papers of different varieties were added along with stains of paint and purposeful areas of paint.  This would not be a painting I would do today, but the goal was to capture the spirit of the first painting. Laurie     © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 My Website   Thinking ahead to the Thanksgiving celebration next week, I remembered back to those previous dinners that I cooked, served, ate quickly, and cleaned up.  This is how I felt.  It is probably strange...even for me but I had the best fun sketching it out and painting it. We lost another dear family member this week. She has celebrated her 'continuation' day and is now with her mom and dad and her other cousins.  She leaves behind a family that will always celebrate her gentleness.  My aunt was special to all of us. She loved each of us dearly for who we were and was always ready with a hug or a 'good job'.    My memories are of breakfast pastries smeared with butter on top. It was not like they were not sweet enough as they were, but at her small kitch...

Sleeping Cowboy . Ernest Hemingway . Sunday, a day of rest . Western Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

My life has the tendency to fall apart when I'm awake, you know?” Ernest Hemingway  I really enjoyed painting this scene. It was restful to me as the artist  and loved by our friends.  Sunday is the day of rest. I smiled when I found this in archives and thought it perfect for this day.  If you live in Texas you know that we still have 'rules' about not selling liquor before noon.  If you live in Texas and are in your late thirties and up, you might even remember Blue Laws.   Stores were simply NOT open...
