The Western Blue Bird by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

Western Blue Bird

"And if the house just keeps on winning
I got a wildcard up my sleeve
And if love keeps giving me lemons
I'll just mix 'em in my drink
And if the whole wide world stops singing
And all the stars go dark
I'll keep a light on in my soul
Keep bluebird in my heart."

From Miranda Lambert "Bluebird"

What's Up God?
Part 1

Have you ever felt 'led'  but was not sure where you were to go or why?  The past year I have learned to lean into the Lord almost minute by minute. I believe I have begun to succeed in retaining peace and calm when attacked by others or myself, or when a pity party tries to launch in my brain. We all seem to be easily led by our own thoughts into areas never previously examined. But are we aware when the Lord is trying to lead us somewhere?

I have learned to let things happen with out trying to over control them.  Why did it take till this age to realize if I let it go, there is no stress or worry and what happens just pans out before my eyes. I have found peace in sleep like I have not experienced in years. I feel the presence of the Father. I feel safe.  In rest and repentance I am saved. In quietness and trust.....

“In repentance and rest is your salvation,
in quietness and trust is your strength,
but you would have none of it."

Why do we ignore what is right before us?

"You said, ‘No, we will flee on horses.’
    Therefore you will flee!
You said, ‘We will ride off on swift horses.’
Therefore your pursuers will be swift!"
                                                    Isaiah 30:15-16

Are you on the horse riding away? I am believing you are. I was for most of my life. I tried to control it all. There were things to face in life and there were those things you jumped on the horse to get away from.  Out of sight out of mind...ride hard.

Another area of question is planning and planning and trying to work to make things happen in life. In prayer we are open to ask our Father to fill our needs or wishes. He cannot possibly work while we are planning and forcing things around to fit what we want.  Most likely He walks away from you.

                                                            The Story
It was last October that my youngest son came running into the house... "Pop just sold me your car."  I did a double take and shook my head, "What do you mean he sold you my car?"  I knew our son was offered good money for his lease car and had turned it in...and now he had nothing to drive.  But my car? I am not a big driver and esp since Covid curtailed running around. "He sold you my car?"  A day later he handed me cash for the car.  It was 10 years old with only 70K miles on it. It is a Chrysler 300 CE with a Hemi engine. Terry picked it out. Can you tell why?  I had traded in my VW Passat and wanted a Durango.  Terry walked out with a red Chrysler for me.  It was the nicest car we have had in the past 30 years, comfy seats maxed out, and the perfect car for retirement and travel. The SUV idea was not his thought at all. The Chrysler was beautiful.

Zooming forward about six years... his 1999 Ram had over 210K miles on it.  He wanted to find a used one and did on Ebay. He flew to Mobile Alabama and he and our Son in Law picked it up and drove it back. It only had 48 K miles on it and it was a 2013. Laramie Longhorn.  My mistake in agreeing was not realizing it was almost one and a half times larger than our 1999 Ram that I loved driving. This truck was too big for me to navigate city traffic.

God was still talking to me in my heart... but I was not listening.  I just resigned myself to have the grandparent car and two trucks. I rode gunshot and enjoyed not getting uptight with traffic.  Things were going to change but it took six more years before they did.  More tomorrow to finish my BlueBird Story or the Learning to Leave it to God Story.

Part Two tomorrow:  RedBird Sings in the Bluebird. "Blessed are all who wait for him!"

Yet the Lord longs to be gracious to you;
therefore he will rise up to show you compassion.
For the Lord is a God of justice.
Blessed are all who wait for him!" Isaiah 30:18

A Bit of Wonder Contemporary Horse Oil Daily Painting Art by Laurie Justus Pace 24 x 30 x 2 inches of thick buttery oils! Contact me to purchase: Laurie "This is the day that the Lord has made; Let us rejoice and be glad in it". Psalm 118:24 It was a day of celebration yesterday as Lauren Gracen was born. Stacey began her labor around nine in the morning and was ready to push by 12:15, but they held her off while getting things set up. Took four good contractions with multiple pushes and the baby was there! All grandparents accounted for to count the toes and fingers! My admiration is for my daughter and her bravery and calmness despite the tension and newness of what she faced. I was honored to be there as the baby was delivered seeing my granddaughter push out into the light and take her first breathe... and then cry... and that she did. Terry was able to participate and he and Larry helped with pushing and getting Stacey upright for the process and then Terry was hon...

Arrival...Refrigerator?

© Laurie Pace        Graphics One Design 2024 Arrival Oil on Canvas  SOLD   by Laurie Pace   Proverbs 16:3 "Commit to the Lord whtever you do, and he will establish your plans."   Worrisome times laced with prayers.   The world seems like a scary place lately. Praying for everyone affected by the last two hurricanes.  My adventures today were the result of a dead refrigerator. I have loved my Kitchen Aid refrigerator very much. The first one in the 'French Kitchen' look died at 13 months. Hubby wanted the same refrigerator. Well this one made it four years and a few months. I cannot believe appliances are not made to last longer...but wait, is that because they make more money if we have to replace it in 4-5 years?  You replace your mattress at least every 7 years... and your washer dryer, you might get 7 years out of those... The stoves seem to make it closer to 10 years. We are Lowe's customers, and Robert ...

The Marsh... of our lives? Walking with God.

© Laurie Pace        Graphics One Design 2024 The Marsh 6 x 12 inches Oil on Canvas  SOLD   by Laurie Pace   I did two of these paintings about three years ago. They both sold immediately to a Florida Collector. Simple and elegant for a horse painting.  Ephesians 5:1-2 "Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children and walk in love, just as Christ also loved you and gave Himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God as a fragrant aroma."  One of the biggest challenges in walking with God is trusting Him and not trying to out think Him or to do everything your way. It never works.  The Apostle Paul wrote of his own struggles in Romans 7 .  Romans 7: 22-23 “ So I find this law at work: Although I want to do good, evil is right there with me. For in my inner being I delight in God’s law; but I see another law at work in me, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the ...
