Face within.  What does that mean?  Faces are funny in so many ways. We often wear them as a mask so others do not know our thoughts, our insecurities, or even our reactions. When do we lower the mask?

In this journey on this figurative painting,  I was repurposing a canvas with a prior painting on it.  There are two faces in this piece.  Hence the name, Face Within.  I do believe we all hide a huge portion of who we are in our heart as well as our feelings of insecurity and worry. 

Always look at the eyes. They tell the story within you.  Can you find the second face on this painting?

The underlays are pages from a western book and then torn papers of different varieties were added along with stains of paint and purposeful areas of paint.  This would not be a painting I would do today, but the goal was to capture the spirit of the first painting. We lost another dear family member this week. She has celebrated her 'continuation' day and is now with her mom and dad and her other cousins.  She leaves behind a family that will always celebrate her gentleness.  My aunt was special to all of us. She loved each of us dearly for who we were and was always ready with a hug or a 'good job'.    My memories are of breakfast pastries smeared with butter on top.
