Can you measure love? This horse painting from 2008 of two trotting side by side ... made me ponder that question. We often think more of love as an emotion, but it is so much more. Love is measured and maintained by what you give... NOT what you receive. You can truly love anyone. Everyone knows the Golden Rule: "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." Translated, treat others as you would like to be treated. Love truly is action first and emotion second.
Lady L helped with picking tomatoes.
In our multigenerational household, we have to show LOTS of love and patience. We knew coming into this that the primary goal was to do for others first and self second. Maybe not the 4 month old... but for the six year old and up. How can you help today? What can you do for someone else in the family to make their day better. Terry is up every morning at six to make sure there is hot coffee for Larry to have on his way to work. Larry is out the door by 6:15. That is the start of each day. At breakfast we have a small Bible study with Lady L and Stacey. We set a plan for the day to improve our connection with God and with the family. One day is was "Look for the Good". Lady L took it seriously and she not only stayed on top of being helpful, but was quick to find the 'good' all day long.
