A Painting a Day
GOOD MORNING! Well, almost afternoon. I have been up scrubbing down my studio and picking up all my reference books and restacking all my stuff....and finally got to paint....I was reminded of my youngest Kerrie Blue Terrier, Paddy. We are really working hard to curb his attitude on the leash and when Terry puts him down, sometimes we see this turning reaction...but we all know Terry is the Big Dog! I am laughing...I am NOT the big dog. I am the family nothing...actually my youngest, Morgan the painter, use to call me a popcorn fart. That is pretty bad.
Actually my strength is there when I need to call upon it. My strength lies in the Lord!
A few readers wrote me about their dads after my last post. My dad has Alzheimers. He really does well and my mom is a saint. I worry though because I have had so many folks warn me that the female caretakers (ie my mom) is in danger because of the risk to stress she endures and often the caretakers will leave this earth long before the patient. She has recently found out her adrenal glands are not working. Read up on this and it is rather scary. They have her on meds to jump start them again. That is stress central in the body. Remember that flight or fight syndrome? It originates there.
New to our lives is the news that the American Pilots may strike. Terry is a mechanic with American. He works in the hanger at DFW. We have been with American 20 years. After the last cuts we were privileged to have the income we had in 1990. (Plus benefit losses, sick time, vacation time etc.) Even our pilots took it in the pocket book, but now are a bit ticked off all the white collar execs were given HUGE HUGE HUGE bonuses as we climbed back to profitability. I sometimes wonder how many of those guys missed Christmas dinner like my husband did...or how many miss going to church every Sunday because they have to work and the company cut out most of the shifts that have weekends available. I have to trust and know we are where we are suppose to be through the power of the Lord and I will rest in this as we face all the rumors that are erupting throughout the system.
Give thanks today...for all you do have, the people in your life, the gifts He has provided, the food you ate this morning, the day, the ability to read this, the fingers typing on the keyboard, the joy of light and love, and the privilege of pain and suffering to know and appreciate the good and the bad.
Me...I am heading in to clean the house now! Must take care of the blessings I do have!
(Husband included!)
Grace,
Laurie
