Morning Light 15 X 30 inches A Painting A Day It is Saturday and it is early. Our eldest son just flew in from Long Island for his birthday weekend so later today I will be in the kitchen preparing food for a family gathering. It will be our first in this new downsized house, so I am sure it will be interesting. Also this morning is the first morning of my painting ladies! I have three brave women coming to share the morning with me as we all paint together. Some are new to it, some have watercolor experience, so this will be a great day to share in "pushing paint." The painting I have posted above I finished yesterday. It is absolutely stunning in its contrasting colors. When I walk into the studio and see it on the wall it is like watching the sunrise outside. The paint is thick and applied with a palette knife in the same approach I have been doing my horses and the one buffalo painting. Energy abounds with this pull of the paint; it is like you create an atmosphere
In the Palms Day In the Palms Night The small one is 15 X 30 The large one is 36 X 36 Good morning! I wanted to share two commission pieces heading to Florida next week. When Jim contacted me about palms trees and swamps, I swallowed hard and said, "Sure, I can do it." I have seen palms trees through out my life, but can easy tell you, never a swamp in person. We googled each and came up with six pictures and the composition settled on was a part of each of those pictures. I couldn't wait to paint as the colors began to settle on the canvas. The larger one was a six day painting with about five layers of paint. What is eerie good about it is as you settle into the painting looking at it, you feel the greeness of the shade and the glow of the area surrounding you. It is surrealistic in a way. When Jim indicated the need for a long narrow painting I immediately envisioned this same area, different angle and at deep dusk; this painting too flowed from the paint brush c
Dahlia Late Summer 24 X 36 inches A Painting A Day Good Morning. This is what I worked on yesterday with delight! Have not painted a flower this size in awhile and I was recognized by fellow artist on eBay in the top five of best artists that paint large flowers! An honor to be sure from fellow artists. Done in an impressionistic style with a wide brush, the contrast of colors pops the dahlia out into the room. Romantic and vivid, this is true to bring life to a room. Grace to you, Laurie " If we live, we live to the Lord; and if we die, we die to the Lord. Therefore, whether we live or die, we are the Lord's." Romans 14:8
Buffalo Morning 24 x 36 x 2 inches A Painting a Day Contact me on pricing of this painting. Click here. Good morning. Today is a dedicated painting day. Wednesdays always are! I have some commission pieces to finish up today that maybe I can post tomorrow morning...palm trees and swamps. I have enjoyed painting those. The painting I posted today I finished on Sunday. Painted in the same manner as my abstract horses on the horizen, I took on buffalo on the horizon and was very pleased with the results. Thick paint and my palette knife take me into a level of creativity that allows me to carve and paint at the same time. Grace to you, Laurie " Be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness." Ephesians 4:23-24
Purple Hydrangea 15 x 30 inches Terry and I were at HALF PRICE BOOKS last week and they had their annual 20% off EVERYTHING in the store. I found an old book filled with ideas for floral arrangements... I think they will be inspirational to some of my florals over the next few months. This one was Purple Hydrangea....I think the color is a bit off...the vases are a blue green and here they look rather blue! It was fun and a change from my horses. We went out to dinner last night with friends from American Airlines. Some are fortunate to be retired, some of us are not! Terry and I were up by five thirty this morning as I packed his lunch and sent him out the door.... I am bleary eyed but here in the studio ready to paint. Grace to you all Laurie "For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us." Romans 8:18
Arabian Romp 30 by 30 inches This painting is available by purchase now, and will be on auction next week on ebay. Click here to contact me! The development of this painting was such a joy and a true process in art. I knew in the beginning where the horse would be but absolutely no idea as to the background or the foreground. I tend to work the entire canvas as I go, painting on areas of the horse and areas of the background at the same time. I allow the color to begin to determine what emerges beyond the horse. Letting go and allowing the Spirit to work passes life to the canvas. Hope your weekend is going well. Thanks for stopping by. Grace, Laurie "Be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil." Ephesians 6:10-11

Proverbs (off the top of my head!)
Village after the Rain 9 X 12 inches of delightful color available on ebay.... Click here. We have been busy the past few days with our son in from NYC and our grandson visiting with him! What fun and what action. I forget how fast young ones wipe out the house around you like swirling chaos. Painted this piece while they were all here. Now I am back on track again. I finished some commission pieces as well so I can concentrate on new pieces. I do have one more commission piece to do of a Tuscan scene...have not drawn it out yet. FIELD OF MOONLIGHT 9 x 12 inches Oil on Masonite Board Rain, we might actually have rain today! I am going to gen around the studio and clean up a bit and then paint today. This is one I just finished. It is Holbein Duo Oils on Masonite board. Very bright and very thick with paint. The paint is sooo thick I had a hard time photographing the painting. Hope everyone has a safe weekend and enjoys the extra day off, well some of you get it, I don't, and my husband doesn't! Enjoy it for us. Grace, Laurie "We know that in everything God works for good with those who love him, who are called according to his purpose." Romans 8: 28
IRIS TWO A Painting A Day 9 x 12 inches Had my first day of students back at the studio yesterday. We reviewed line, shape, color, texture, space, value and form. Those are the "ingrediants to making art". Next week we will jump into action with the fall studies! Meanwhile painting continues. This is Holbein Duo Oils on Masonite Board. It really paints so much differently that canvas. I will be painting on masonite again today so we will see what evolves. No clue on what I am painting yet either. It will be a busy weekend with our oldest son dropping in and his son, our nine year old grandson. I imagine my diet is out the door. Hope each of you stays safe over the holiday weekend. Grace, Laurie "For in this hope we were saved. Now hope that is seen is not hope. For who hopes for what he sees? But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience. Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we ought, but the Spiri
MORNING LIGHT A Painting A Day 30 by 30 inches in size This continues my exploration of horses and color.... although today I am starting a painting of palm trees as a commission piece. I am ready to paint on it and hopefully will post pictures here along the way. I am always ready for commission work, so contact me if you want something special painted. " So we are always of good courage; we know that while we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord, for we walk by faith, not by sight." 2 Corinthians 5:6-7
Red Horse One A Painting a Day 24 X 36 inches of color explosion! Greetings from the studio. I have been out of town for a few days but returned to try and catch up yesterday! Packing and shipping out paintings I stayed busy until late and I began this painting then. I worked until late last night and then this morning I finished it up. Appealing to the primal beginnings of time and the raw beauty of the horse, my palette drew itself to a red horse standing proudly in the center of the canvas. "I waited patiently for the Lord; he inclined to me and heard my cry. He drew me up from the desolate pit, out of the miry bog, and set my feet upon a rock, making my steps secrue. He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God. Many will see and fear, and put their trust in the Lord." Psalms 40:1-3
