Day Six: S Spain is the winner drawn name! Congrats!! 

BPH... translates Before Painting Horses era.... I loved painting children and people doing things and often did portraits for families. This was painted in my studio on the lake and I was finishing her up late one evening and trying to get a photo of it as I finished it.   I am continuing to believe these are gentle nudges for me.... I hope you enjoy seeing some of the 'other types' of my work.

Short blog this morning just to greet the day and post a winner. Did you catch the horses in process right behind this beautiful little girl painting?  I am pulled two directions again! 

This is what I saw from my studio every day when we lived at the lake... winter in this photo. I am a bit nostalgic right now.

Have a beautiful  week each of you. It is cold today in north Texas... when we got up it felt like 36 degrees outside with a strong north wind and half the leaves on the oaks are blown to the south and I am sure many are over the fence line next door. We will stay chilly for this week but looks like by the weekend and Christmas we will be near seventy outside. Past years when this happens we end up with snow in late Feb - early March- Snowmagedon.

That poor little 8 x 10 pony was loved by a company to do very large prints and it was not here for me to even use to scan... so I created something with the same heart, a kindred spirit. The underlays are pages from a western book and then torn papers of different varieties were added along with stains of paint and purposeful areas of paint.  This would not be a painting I would do today, but the goal was to capture the spirit of the first painting. We lost another dear family member this week. She has celebrated her 'continuation' day and is now with her mom and dad and her other cousins.  She leaves behind a family that will always celebrate her gentleness.  My aunt was special to all of us. She loved each of us dearly for who we were and was always ready with a hug or a 'good job'.    My memories are of breakfast pastries smeared with butter on top. It was not like they were not sweet enough as they were, but at her small kitch...
