"The Omega" was painted in my Golden Pond Studio at Lake Cypress Springs.  It was a commissioned painting and I had so much fun doing it!  I believe we ended up rolling it to ship it to save on shipping and the new owner had it stretched and framed. As you can see there are layers of color and overlays everywhere! The energy in this horse painting is high!

As far as the next free painting, it will be a few days. I want to do new things!  Layers of color and overlays create the entire painting, keeping a tiny part of the realism and loosing the rest to abstract shapes throughout!!!

My Sams Adventure

Our daughter grabbed me this morning for a trip to Sams.  There are things I love at Sams and things I love at Costco.  For organic veggies.... Costco all the way. Also like their spice aisle!   Sams had things I had not seen before and I came home with a lot of food for Hubby and a Dyson for the studio ease of sweeping!

Mindful... living life in a mindful set was something I read about last night. That is  exactly why I went with her to Sams spur of the moment.  I left the house and jumped into the car and enjoyed shopping with her... just being out of the house in the moment with my daughter. We laughed, enjoyed the bouquets of flowers and things seemed balanced in the world.

From the article, I also figured out quickly that I am a multi tasking person. That is a high stress position with your brain in over drive. I do not recommend it for any of you.  Trying to multi-task adds tension, and does not save you time.  I cannot even begin to tell you about multi-tasking it takes so much complicated thinking.  At night I usually have an electric tooth brush in hand as I race around letting dogs out, cleaning up left out stuff in the kitchen, warming up water for nasal rinses for both of us, and only then do I make it back to dock the tooth brush and floss my teeth. Cannot do much while flossing.  In the mornings I balance walking 3 or 4 miles on the treadmill with first prep on soaking oatmeal, filling dog bowls etc... It just keeps on going.  I will be working on cutting back, and slowing down.

I want simplicity and peace in my life.  I want to enjoy life and not be trying to balance life.  What do you do?

“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal,  but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal.  For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."  Matthew 6:19-21

Mixed Media Collage Horse Paintings by Texas Artist Laurie Justus Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2013 Horse Collage Fall 2013  12 x 18 inches Mixed Media on Canvas.  This was an intentional paint to imitate one of the 100 ponies I did in 2012. That poor little 8 x 10 pony was loved by a company to do very large prints and it was not here for me to even use to scan... so I created something with the same heart, a kindred spirit. The underlays are pages from a western book and then torn papers of different varieties were added along with stains of paint and purposeful areas of paint.  This would not be a painting I would do today, but the goal was to capture the spirit of the first painting. Laurie     © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 My Website   Thinking ahead to the Thanksgiving celebration next week, I remembered back to those previous dinners that I cooked, served, ate quickly, and cleaned up.  This is how I felt.  It is probably strange...even for me but I had the best fun sketching it out and painting it. We lost another dear family member this week. She has celebrated her 'continuation' day and is now with her mom and dad and her other cousins.  She leaves behind a family that will always celebrate her gentleness.  My aunt was special to all of us. She loved each of us dearly for who we were and was always ready with a hug or a 'good job'.    My memories are of breakfast pastries smeared with butter on top. It was not like they were not sweet enough as they were, but at her small kitch...

Sleeping Cowboy . Ernest Hemingway . Sunday, a day of rest . Western Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

My life has the tendency to fall apart when I'm awake, you know?” Ernest Hemingway  I really enjoyed painting this scene. It was restful to me as the artist  and loved by our friends.  Sunday is the day of rest. I smiled when I found this in archives and thought it perfect for this day.  If you live in Texas you know that we still have 'rules' about not selling liquor before noon.  If you live in Texas and are in your late thirties and up, you might even remember Blue Laws.   Stores were simply NOT open...
