Three Boats Sunrise
18 x 24  Oils on Canvas
SOLD
 by Laurie Pace

I love this piece!  I have. painted it with different buildings, different boats but always the sky and the water meeting together. They remind me of European destinations, but totally a figment in my creativity!  Sunrise is a quiet time as you see the sun in the horizon gaining on the day... The boats far quiet in the water and it literally invites you to come be apart of the painting. Go on up the stairs to the entry... and let yourself in.

Story Time Today!

Thursday was a day I only thought I was prepared for! Isn't that how it always happens?  Make a plan and hear God laugh. Our week has been full of errands for one grandson, baby sitting for a granddaughter and babysitting for another grandson.  Suddenly today, I was working right along at my desk and waiting for youngest granddaughter to arrive and the need arose for us to keep the grandson next door.  The best part, they love each other very much. Here is how it all began!

I knew by this time, I needed to walk away from the work I was doing for a client and tend to the gift of grands in our house this day.  You would be surprised at the amount of work done earlier between 6 am and 10:30 am... Hubby is tending a hip injury and I am doing the dogs, in and out, feeding, filling water bowls in and out, soaking oats, walking three and half miles, then cooking oatmeal, slicing strawberries and peaches and an apple for the oatmeal and I did not forget the flaxseed!

After I cleaned up the breakfast dishes, I started on a peach cobbler. Most of you know we are whole foods plant based and eat very little sugar, but peaches are only here a short time and I promised Terry a cobbler.  I immediately went to Dr McDougall's website because his wife Mary has endless good recipes and I found the peach cobbler Recipe  It took hardly anytime because you do not have to peel the peaches.  Terry came out and helped and with in about 40 min, hot peach cobbler sat on the counter and the rich smell filled the house.

Short Order Cook between the Games
The kids started arriving about 11... and we were in full mode.  We played a CLUE game that uses an ipad.?? I still don't get it.  We taught the granddaughter how to play 21 because it makes them use math. The grandson is good at it!

Terry bailed by this time to rest ... we moved on to Go Fishing with regular cards... that filled an hour!!  Time for lunch cooking to begin.  I made some zucchini  and the rest of our lunch which involved mushrooms, onions, garlic, carrots, celery, spices and slices of potatoes all cooked down to "yummy" with collards on top. Our salads were filled with dark red lettuce, green cabbage, tomatoes, carrots, celery, zucchini and more...
Of course the two grands do not eat it. I made them mashed potatoes and egg noodle pasta with butter and salt.

BUT....The War Broke Out Before Lunch

One of them had a gameboy or something similar and they were going to play games on it.  Did not happen. The granddaughter wanted to be a certain character and no one else.  Screaming, grabbing, yelling filled the house. Hubby came back... he confiscated the Gameboy unit and I challenged them to get a piece of paper to create art.

I said we would chose a winner... and Terry passed out markers and pencils. I instructed them,  "You are on a farm with three cousins visiting. Draw a picture that makes a story about the three cousins on the farm."  It worked... they were busy and happy and engaged over their stories! They spent the rest of the day playing nicely.

When the war broke out just before lunch, I retreated to wash my face and hands and to pray in the bathroom and I actually started laughing a good belly laugh. THIS IS WHY WE ARE HERE. Work cannot matter anytime they are coming. God give us those aha moments when our priorities are not straight.... and I was quick to recognize I needed to adjust my expectations and enjoy the two of them!

Stepping away from our work to immerse ourselves in these experiences is not merely a momentary indulgence, but rather a life-long legacy we leave for our grandkids. It is a testament to the love and dedication we have for them, showing that they are a priority above all else.

In the grand scheme of life, it is these invested moments that our grandchildren will remember and carry with them into their own journeys. This is part of God's plan for us to teach them.  It is in these teaching moments we forge unbreakable connections, bridging the gap between our generations and laying the foundation for a lasting family bond centered in the love of God.

"I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me." Galatians 2:20

Arrival...Refrigerator?

© Laurie Pace        Graphics One Design 2024 Arrival Oil on Canvas  SOLD   by Laurie Pace   Proverbs 16:3 "Commit to the Lord whtever you do, and he will establish your plans."   Worrisome times laced with prayers.   The world seems like a scary place lately. Praying for everyone affected by the last two hurricanes.  My adventures today were the result of a dead refrigerator. I have loved my Kitchen Aid refrigerator very much. The first one in the 'French Kitchen' look died at 13 months. Hubby wanted the same refrigerator. Well this one made it four years and a few months. I cannot believe appliances are not made to last longer...but wait, is that because they make more money if we have to replace it in 4-5 years?  You replace your mattress at least every 7 years... and your washer dryer, you might get 7 years out of those... The stoves seem to make it closer to 10 years. We are Lowe's customers, and Robert and Shelia at the Southlake Lowe's in Appliances

The Marsh... of our lives? Walking with God.

© Laurie Pace        Graphics One Design 2024 The Marsh 6 x 12 inches Oil on Canvas  SOLD   by Laurie Pace   I did two of these paintings about three years ago. They both sold immediately to a Florida Collector. Simple and elegant for a horse painting.  Ephesians 5:1-2 "Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children and walk in love, just as Christ also loved you and gave Himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God as a fragrant aroma."  One of the biggest challenges in walking with God is trusting Him and not trying to out think Him or to do everything your way. It never works.  The Apostle Paul wrote of his own struggles in Romans 7 .  Romans 7: 22-23 “ So I find this law at work: Although I want to do good, evil is right there with me. For in my inner being I delight in God’s law; but I see another law at work in me, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within me” I can only speak for mys

Piano Girls

© Laurie Pace        Graphics One Design 2024 Girl on Piano Oil on Canvas  SOLD   by Laurie Pace   Our prayers are with the southeastern Gulf coast as a hurricane approaches. We have family and friends in this area. This painting was a more impressionistic piece than the Girl on Piano pieces from 2008-2010.  It is the tilt of the head and the precious lift of the hand with the outer small finger delicately angled. Not quite old enough to be using pedals, her feet are crossed below the bench. Back in the day of my lessons and playing in the late fifties and early sixties, young girls wore dresses. I miss those days. I still prefer dresses over pants today... even my studio jeans.  One of my modern girl on Piano pieces.... "Playing for Papa" These make incredible gifts for the holidays using music that is important to you or to the person receiving the gift. In the midst of commissions right now.  I loved playing for my grandmother and my Dad.  Shop other Av
