A quick catch up late tonight. It is after 9pm.  Freezing rain started on Sunday last weekend.  It is 28 but feels like 18 outside and it is still coming down.  Some areas the ice is over 12 inches, but on our street and patio it is about 5 inches.  We were suppose to be clear tomorrow, but now they said it will be Friday.... Saturday for sure!  Our grid has held out so far but we have been in the mid twenties or lower since Sunday.

FULL CIRCLE

Do you come a full circle during your life time or even every day?  How does God fit into your life?  How does He fit into your everyday thoughts and decisions?

Every morning we have a new day before us. I have learned recently it is so much easier if I face it without too many preconceived goals or allowing fear or anxiety to creep into my mind.  Our lives have become over burdened by social media, television, and computers. We have become the 'instant' generation. We need and want everything NOW. We must check Facebook or Instagram.... and once you are there... you are lost for 30 or more minutes. We are carried into a frenzy or trance by all the different posts that demand our attention. OH yes, you must order from Amazon so you have it as you get home.  OH, I forgot...how about all those reels... the babies always make me laugh... but God does it so much better! I do not need all the distractions.

Are you going in a straight line away from the circle of God's love and the path He has "hopes" you will find? What would happen if you could 'get lost' in His presence for 30 minutes through prayer and praise with Him? Then through out the day, catch up with Him again giving thanks always for his unending love, and the continuous mercy he provides for us.

If you are a parent like I am, you are always wanting to provide assistance or help your children, or help your adult children. You care about them and you stay connected to provide your wisdom and assistance.

God does that for each of us.

Did you catch that last sentence? God is our Father and He wants to guide us, help us, provide for us... and so much more. Have you talked to Him today?

For one of my daily examples, He is ready to forgive us once we realize our daily mess ups. "In repentance and rest we are saved..."

Our Father does not want us worrying, or trying to change everything around us. "In quietness and trust is our strength."

This verse is Isaiah 30:15 "This is what the Sovereign Lord, the Holy One of Israel, says: “In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength, but you would have none of it."  Sounds like a kid telling their parents...nope, I know better.

We have to trust Him.

How do we turn our thoughts off and curb our social media?  How much screen time are you burning up each day?

Do remember Moses?  He brought the Israelites out of Egypt, but because he struggled too many times with processing this and completing it, Moses never stepped foot in the Promised Land. He did see it in the distance as they approached but died before they arrived....

Repentance and Rest....Quietness and Trust.  Put the phone down, turn the phone off....close down the ipad and stop all the screen time. How are you suppose to survive each day without time with Him? Walk away from it all and you will find it is a game changer.

So may all your enemies perish, LORD! But may all who love you be like the sun when it rises in its strength.” Then the land had peace forty years." Judges 5:31

Mixed Media Collage Horse Paintings by Texas Artist Laurie Justus Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2013 Horse Collage Fall 2013  12 x 18 inches Mixed Media on Canvas.  This was an intentional paint to imitate one of the 100 ponies I did in 2012. That poor little 8 x 10 pony was loved by a company to do very large prints and it was not here for me to even use to scan... so I created something with the same heart, a kindred spirit. The underlays are pages from a western book and then torn papers of different varieties were added along with stains of paint and purposeful areas of paint.  This would not be a painting I would do today, but the goal was to capture the spirit of the first painting. Laurie     © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 My Website   Thinking ahead to the Thanksgiving celebration next week, I remembered back to those previous dinners that I cooked, served, ate quickly, and cleaned up.  This is how I felt.  It is probably strange...even for me but I had the best fun sketching it out and painting it. We lost another dear family member this week. She has celebrated her 'continuation' day and is now with her mom and dad and her other cousins.  She leaves behind a family that will always celebrate her gentleness.  My aunt was special to all of us. She loved each of us dearly for who we were and was always ready with a hug or a 'good job'.    My memories are of breakfast pastries smeared with butter on top. It was not like they were not sweet enough as they were, but at her small kitch...

Sleeping Cowboy . Ernest Hemingway . Sunday, a day of rest . Western Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

My life has the tendency to fall apart when I'm awake, you know?” Ernest Hemingway  I really enjoyed painting this scene. It was restful to me as the artist  and loved by our friends.  Sunday is the day of rest. I smiled when I found this in archives and thought it perfect for this day.  If you live in Texas you know that we still have 'rules' about not selling liquor before noon.  If you live in Texas and are in your late thirties and up, you might even remember Blue Laws.   Stores were simply NOT open...
