BE READY

The season of ADVENT is upon us... and for our family, this is a special connection working in our lives preparing our hearts for the celebration of the Christ's birthday.  Preparation is good in all parts of our life.  From planing ahead, which often brings a giggle from our Father, to the full realization preparation of the heart, is dropping all your thoughts and plans into HIS hands.

We are truly a hands on civilization, believing we have control over our lives at all times. When you mix in the thought of God into our planning equation, you never know what will happen.  What we do know is, God goes before us and is constantly with us.

Currently here in the United States, there is a large body of people that believe only in themselves and not in a higher power. Our prayers extend to them, as they do not know the love of God, the sacrifice of Jesus for us, and the movement of the Holy Spirit in their lives.  Trying times loom ahead with the political calamity in the United States and the current state of affairs in China.   Tie that in with a war in the Ukraine with Russia and watching the billion and billions of our tax paying money funding a war for a country that is NOT a NATO country.  It is reported to be a country filled with innocent people who do not even realize they shielded and allowed laboratories inside their border for foreign countries, ours included.

I never thought we would be living through such trying times. Our Texas borders are broken and run over by millions and millions of illegals. Trafficking of children and drugs is off the charts.  I could write for another hour about the chaos everywhere, including Apple (Which I have used for over 20 plus years) taking the side of Communism in China by reducing the ability of the Chinese population to use airdrop. At the same time... Tictoc... FB and more all out of our hands.

PREPARE, BE READY... invite God into your lives, your home and your heart. He is the way and through the death of his Son, Jesus, he is the ONLY WAY.

We pray for God's will to be done on earth, just like it is in heaven.  He has ultimate control.

BE READY.

The day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything in it will be laid bare. Since everything will be destroyed in this way, what kind of people ought you to be? You ought to live holy and godly lives." 2 Peter 3:10-11

Mixed Media Collage Horse Paintings by Texas Artist Laurie Justus Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2013 Horse Collage Fall 2013  12 x 18 inches Mixed Media on Canvas.  This was an intentional paint to imitate one of the 100 ponies I did in 2012. That poor little 8 x 10 pony was loved by a company to do very large prints and it was not here for me to even use to scan... so I created something with the same heart, a kindred spirit. The underlays are pages from a western book and then torn papers of different varieties were added along with stains of paint and purposeful areas of paint.  This would not be a painting I would do today, but the goal was to capture the spirit of the first painting. Laurie     © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 My Website   Thinking ahead to the Thanksgiving celebration next week, I remembered back to those previous dinners that I cooked, served, ate quickly, and cleaned up.  This is how I felt.  It is probably strange...even for me but I had the best fun sketching it out and painting it. We lost another dear family member this week. She has celebrated her 'continuation' day and is now with her mom and dad and her other cousins.  She leaves behind a family that will always celebrate her gentleness.  My aunt was special to all of us. She loved each of us dearly for who we were and was always ready with a hug or a 'good job'.    My memories are of breakfast pastries smeared with butter on top. It was not like they were not sweet enough as they were, but at her small kitch...

Sleeping Cowboy . Ernest Hemingway . Sunday, a day of rest . Western Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

My life has the tendency to fall apart when I'm awake, you know?” Ernest Hemingway  I really enjoyed painting this scene. It was restful to me as the artist  and loved by our friends.  Sunday is the day of rest. I smiled when I found this in archives and thought it perfect for this day.  If you live in Texas you know that we still have 'rules' about not selling liquor before noon.  If you live in Texas and are in your late thirties and up, you might even remember Blue Laws.   Stores were simply NOT open...
