“Anything that’s human is mentionable, and anything that is mentionable can be more manageable. When we can talk about our feelings, they become less overwhelming, less upsetting, and less scary. The people we trust with that important talk can help us know that we are not alone.”
― Fred Rogers

Strength and Power fill this painting. Beautiful white mare is standing in the sun out in the deep of the west. With the strength of day upon the moment, the deep sky and the brilliant sun are reflected again the mountains. This beautiful piece is on solid beautiful birch and ready to hang as it arrives.
The Story
Can you even imagine stepping out into the sun unencumbered or limited by responsibilities? You would have the entire day before you to seek new paths, meet new people and discover new possibilities. I was reading an article in the paper about the damage this pandemic has done to people in general and how hard it is for them to make simple decisions for themselves, their future or for their children. I pray this begins to pass soon. It is like PTSD... from the Covid Shut Down.
Close your eyes... what do you envision as a peaceful place where you can rest and relax without worries? Do you escape to the beach and roars of the surf? Do you escape to a mountain filled with forests and rivers to explore? Are you tempted by the isolation of a lake surrounded by trees and solitude? What sounds reach your inner core with relaxation? Is it running water, the tides of the ocean or the song of the birds?
Maybe we each need a bridge to get there. Our brains are bombarded from every direction and from past events so much we cannot even push our way through it to get to the bridge to cross out of it all. How would we isolate everything? Rest your brain. Slow things down. Stop thinking and just listen. Until you can knock off the chatter in your head, you cannot find peace. Our survival mechanisms run 24/7. While they are running we cannot possibly find the peace or rest we seek.
I read how shaking someone's hand on introductions is a huge game changer. The movement of our body and the vigorous shaking of hands and nodding of heads brings a smooth break to your brain. It releases everything from adrenaline to bring relaxation. Any movement with energy will clear nervousness and frustration.
I have always wanted Terry to put in a labyrinth to walk in our backyard. When you take the first step you leave everything behind as you follow the path. My brain can be trained to stop all thought and if I switch to listening as I hear my footsteps fall on the path or hear the clock ticking in the room. I still imagine the path...because I do not have a labyrinth yet.
Whether you want to get rid of a fear, to change that voice that constantly tells you "you are not good enough" or there are things you want to edit in your life...you have to calm yourself, realize you are safe and nothing is going to startle or surprise you. There is NO trauma.
Next as you let go of things and do not hold these fears inside. This builds up and damages inside of you and eventually stays rooted. Are you tightening up places or clenching your hands? Stop holding the tension. Find a simple meditation to repeat, breath and draw comfort.
Find your labyrinth, or your walking path, or your chair in front of the window. Imagine your stepping journey moving forward and slowly letting go of fear, pain, and that voice in your head. The more you take time and practice this meditation, the sooner you begin your journey to peace.
My faith provides me with the respite of abiding with Christ. Remembering the Holy Spirit Christ left for me, inside of me, I am able to stay, breath and rest within His care.
