“And so with the sunshine and the great bursts of leaves growing on the trees, just as things grow in fast movies, I had that familiar conviction that life was beginning over again with the summer.”   F. Scott Fitzgerald.  The Great Gatsby

It took a few extra weeks, like six of them, for summer to arrive here in the Dallas Ft Worth area of Texas. The temps the last few weeks were in the 100-105 area with heat index about 10 degrees higher. We had a cool front come through which gave us a few cooler days but we are back over 100 again now.  AUGUST is here.  The painting above was painted last summer when we saw 100 plus for months in a row,  I kept things simple with a simple palette.

  • August is the month I turn my thoughts to September.  At the top of the thought list is Cooler Nights. It begins slowly with nights in the high sixties until October. To date over the past 18 months, with all the Covid Coverage, life has been challenging. How about for you?  Our life became food, TV, 1000-5000 piece puzzles, counting toilet paper rolls, face masks etc.
  • GREAT DEALS: I did learn the SAMS toilet paper Ultra soft is perfect and definitely beats the cost of the competitors.
  • I also learned the SAMS paper towels are awesome in the studio and in the kitchen... another money saver.
  • At Costco this morning they had my ECOS brand liquid for the washing machine at $9.90 was at a lower price for a huge bottle compared to the $12.00 I paid for a bottle about a third of the size. Terry found other special priced things at Costco, and we officially started our Christmas Shopping for the grands.
As I sit here in the den in my comfy chair, typing on my laptop... I realize I should be in the studio painting.  I finished a 3 x 4 ft commission two days ago. Yesterday I finished an 18 x 27 inch painting of a young granddaughter of a good friend.   What I have not done is paint to sell.   Many of my galleries closed.  I have two left open and one more in Dallas that carries my work if I drop it off.  It is time to turn my thoughts away from the presence of Covid dictating everything and get back to work.  Last year I sold three large pieces through galleries and I did two very large commissions.  That has lasted us through. But I am not painting for my website or the galleries.

I am also not blogging like I use to blog about life, nature, my grands, and GOD. Time to go back to the things that brought comfort not just to me but to so many of my followers. Be not mistaken, while I do not do politics online or outside my home, I do GOD every step of every day. Google did away with Feedburner where my list of followers was. Now you have to join my list on my website. I rarely sent out letters, but you can always just come to this blog or the website for new content.

Lastly I want to get Our Crazy Life Plus One up and going. We started it just a few months before COVID hit and then all direction was lost as well as energy. I hope once we have that site up and going you will join us there for crazy fun!

See you soon... have a blessed day!

"He answered, "Do you not know what these are?"  No, my lord," I replied.
So he said to me, "This is the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel: `Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,'" says the LORD Almighty."  Zachariah 4:5-6

A Bit of Wonder Contemporary Horse Oil Daily Painting Art by Laurie Justus Pace 24 x 30 x 2 inches of thick buttery oils! Contact me to purchase: Laurie "This is the day that the Lord has made; Let us rejoice and be glad in it". Psalm 118:24 It was a day of celebration yesterday as Lauren Gracen was born. Stacey began her labor around nine in the morning and was ready to push by 12:15, but they held her off while getting things set up. Took four good contractions with multiple pushes and the baby was there! All grandparents accounted for to count the toes and fingers! My admiration is for my daughter and her bravery and calmness despite the tension and newness of what she faced. I was honored to be there as the baby was delivered seeing my granddaughter push out into the light and take her first breathe... and then cry... and that she did. Terry was able to participate and he and Larry helped with pushing and getting Stacey upright for the process and then Terry was hon...

Arrival...Refrigerator?

© Laurie Pace        Graphics One Design 2024 Arrival Oil on Canvas  SOLD   by Laurie Pace   Proverbs 16:3 "Commit to the Lord whtever you do, and he will establish your plans."   Worrisome times laced with prayers.   The world seems like a scary place lately. Praying for everyone affected by the last two hurricanes.  My adventures today were the result of a dead refrigerator. I have loved my Kitchen Aid refrigerator very much. The first one in the 'French Kitchen' look died at 13 months. Hubby wanted the same refrigerator. Well this one made it four years and a few months. I cannot believe appliances are not made to last longer...but wait, is that because they make more money if we have to replace it in 4-5 years?  You replace your mattress at least every 7 years... and your washer dryer, you might get 7 years out of those... The stoves seem to make it closer to 10 years. We are Lowe's customers, and Robert ...

The Marsh... of our lives? Walking with God.

© Laurie Pace        Graphics One Design 2024 The Marsh 6 x 12 inches Oil on Canvas  SOLD   by Laurie Pace   I did two of these paintings about three years ago. They both sold immediately to a Florida Collector. Simple and elegant for a horse painting.  Ephesians 5:1-2 "Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children and walk in love, just as Christ also loved you and gave Himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God as a fragrant aroma."  One of the biggest challenges in walking with God is trusting Him and not trying to out think Him or to do everything your way. It never works.  The Apostle Paul wrote of his own struggles in Romans 7 .  Romans 7: 22-23 “ So I find this law at work: Although I want to do good, evil is right there with me. For in my inner being I delight in God’s law; but I see another law at work in me, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the ...
