Pony Up
“Count your age by friends, not years. Count your life by smiles, not tears.” John Lennon
Yesterday I finished the first layer of background on the cowboy I am painting. He is on a beautiful gray roan horse roping a black calf. The actual cowboy does the duo team calf down competition. Yes, Dan Jordan, I did not call it the correct name I am sure!
John Lennon never had the chance to grow old and finish out a longer life in this journey. Our politics and music grew far apart over the years after my high school graduation in 1970. I love the part of this quote that says "count your life by smiles not tears." I do find growing older the 'friends' number seems to diminish as many are taken by cancer or heart attacks. Our 50th class reunion is this year, 2019-2020. I remember graduating from high school thinking into the future that in 2000 I would be 48 years old... and felt positive about reaching it. These days every day Terry and I give thanks for the day the Lord has gifted us... this day.
Make your day count today. Make sure you smile at someone and think about John Lennon... count those smiles today.
"And this is love: that we walk in obedience to his commands. As you have heard from the beginning, his command is that you walk in love." 2 John 1:6
