“I wish I had the talent to paint the way I feel about you, for my words always feel inadequate. I imagine using red for your passion and pale blue for your kindness; forest green to reflect the depth of your empathy and bright yellow for your unflagging optimism. And still I wonder: can even an artist’s palette capture the full range of what you mean to me?” Nicholas Sparks
As I head to the easel this morning, I decided to post early on my blog and not at nine pm at night! Back in 2006 when I started blogging, I did it faithfully every morning. Seven days a week. I was painting one painting every day except on Sunday and I had things to share. While part of me wants to do small paintings every day, without Daily Painters, I would be challenged to sell them.
The Lord guides me these days. When I read the quote from Sparks above this morning, it just about explains the passion I feel when painting. Sometimes words are inadequate to describe what is infused in each piece. Whatever the subject is, it is part of the Lord's creation and it is pure love. Painting brings in color, expression, emotion and the best part, it is like a challenge to work with the composition to create the message you want to share with your friends and collectors. It uses both the left and right side of the brain... but it is 100 percent the Holy Spirit moving in me. Took about a year in about 2003 to realize if I painted for myself, the painting never had full emotion in it. It was well executed but not alive. When I allow the Spirit to be apart of the process, it becomes part of a full range of beauty and expression often filled with compassion and trust. It is not me, but it is the Lord.
