Are you thankful no matter what? Perhaps you have lost your job recently, as the economy has continued to struggle. Or you may have lost your health, or a loved one. Such circumstances can be tremendously difficult. But even so, we all have much to be thankful for. Look with me at the story of a man who had every right to be bitter—but wasn’t." Billy Graham Nov 21, 2017  Read more here.

Have you ever realized how often you are never satisfied with your life, or things happening around you?  Have you ever thought about why?  I can only speak for myself, but in my years I have often found myself focusing on what I thought I was missing in life that I needed and not on the bounty I had.

I am also one of 'those' people that often buys things I do not need.  Yes I know it does not make you feel any better, but if things are dismal, the American solution is go shopping and feel better. That of course is just a short moment of fake contentment. You still return home to your life.

I have come a huge way from doing that any more. I can actually walk into a Target store and not buy anything.  I do not have any needs and I can control my wants. Staying focused on things I do have makes me realize the abundance God has already provided in my life.

Being thankful in all seasons traverses a daily path for me.  Sometimes hard to be thankful  when negative thoughts and judgements crowd your head. I find it is so much easier to see fault than it is thankfulness in everything. Change your thought patterns.

I  know that God loves you and me unfailingly.  Never wavering, he is forgiving of our blunders when we earnestly repent to him. I am so thankful to have my Father looking out for me in this life journey. Being thankful is a moment by moment prayer in our lives.  Count your blessings a hundred times a day. Look around you and find the best things in your current circumstances, the best one always being, the Lord is with you. God has this covered, not just seasonally but moment by moment.

Thessalonians 5:18 "In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you."

Mixed Media Collage Horse Paintings by Texas Artist Laurie Justus Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2013 Horse Collage Fall 2013  12 x 18 inches Mixed Media on Canvas.  This was an intentional paint to imitate one of the 100 ponies I did in 2012. That poor little 8 x 10 pony was loved by a company to do very large prints and it was not here for me to even use to scan... so I created something with the same heart, a kindred spirit. The underlays are pages from a western book and then torn papers of different varieties were added along with stains of paint and purposeful areas of paint.  This would not be a painting I would do today, but the goal was to capture the spirit of the first painting. Laurie     © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 My Website   Thinking ahead to the Thanksgiving celebration next week, I remembered back to those previous dinners that I cooked, served, ate quickly, and cleaned up.  This is how I felt.  It is probably strange...even for me but I had the best fun sketching it out and painting it. We lost another dear family member this week. She has celebrated her 'continuation' day and is now with her mom and dad and her other cousins.  She leaves behind a family that will always celebrate her gentleness.  My aunt was special to all of us. She loved each of us dearly for who we were and was always ready with a hug or a 'good job'.    My memories are of breakfast pastries smeared with butter on top. It was not like they were not sweet enough as they were, but at her small kitch...

Sleeping Cowboy . Ernest Hemingway . Sunday, a day of rest . Western Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

My life has the tendency to fall apart when I'm awake, you know?” Ernest Hemingway  I really enjoyed painting this scene. It was restful to me as the artist  and loved by our friends.  Sunday is the day of rest. I smiled when I found this in archives and thought it perfect for this day.  If you live in Texas you know that we still have 'rules' about not selling liquor before noon.  If you live in Texas and are in your late thirties and up, you might even remember Blue Laws.   Stores were simply NOT open...
