"Sheep all together, cars all together, people all together, crows all together, ants all together! Everywhere is full of herds! To breath comfortably, to feel free, to think better and to find the beauties of the unknown paths leave your herd! In whichever herd you are in, leave it!" Mehmet Murat ildan
I was not a person in high school that sought to be elite or popular. I grew up in an elementary school with friends that remained friends as we grew into Junior High and High School. I never felt the need to be in a 'herd' or group, or to be someone I was not. Surprises me to think back and realize this. I had my very best friend, Janet... and as long as we had each other, we were pretty good. We had some close friends, boys and girls, and we did fun parties and group dates until we were old enough to pair up, but basically it was the two of us and we truly did not need everything else. I remember as Juniors, we were on the Speech team and we did extemporaneous speaking and we were really good at it. We loved the research and the pressure involved. Always placed first or second. Thrived off of it. But we also were the 'backup' team in Duet Acting. We were pulled into action at one of the huge meets and dang if we did not take first place in that too. We were the 'unknown' that succeeded. Sort of like it that way... the unknown in life is always a surprise.
