“One resolution I have made, and try always to keep, is this: ‘To rise above little things’.” ― John Burroughs
This just brings me back full circle to the serenity prayer . . . . "God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference." Reinhold Niebuhr
It is human nature to REACT and not think before reacting. Often our mouths lead the charge and we regret words spoken in haste. Seems to be hard at any age to do this. Engaging your brain before you step up and open your mouth. Actions can be just like that as well. My husband reacts often to viscerally. There has been many broken pieces of cups along the way when he slammed them down.
We need to 'rise up' and let the joy and light of life be our color and our shine. Find the best in every situation and rise above the maddening crowds of complainers.
"I in turn will laugh when disaster strikes you; I will mock when calamity overtakes you— when calamity overtakes you like a storm, when disaster sweeps over you like a whirlwind, when distress and trouble overwhelm you. “Then they will call to me but I will not answer; they will look for me but will not find me, since they hated knowledge and did not choose to fear the Lord. Since they would not accept my advice and spurned my rebuke, they will eat the fruit of their ways and be filled with the fruit of their schemes. For the waywardness of the simple will kill them, and the complacency of fools will destroy them; but whoever listens to me will live in safety and be at ease, without fear of harm.” Proverbs 1:26-33
