“Knowledge was not meant to be locked behind doors. It breathes best in the open air where all men can inhale its essence.” ― Louis L'Amour, The Haunted Mesa
I wanted to share the video of this painting below because the book pages served as the foundation of the painting. It sold this month at Mirada Fine Art Gallery in Indian Hills outside of Denver. It is a painting that packs a punch and then when you see how it was conceived and how it grew, it is truly powerful.
Louis L'Amour was my mother in law's favorite read. She collected all of his book. (I did not use her books in this painting, I found old copies at a used book store.) Knowledge is not meant to be hidden. Let us make it circulate among everyone and lead us to true benefit for all. The hard part is realizing there are ALWAYS those people who are not ready to 'receive' the knowledge.

“Listen then to what the parable of the sower means: When anyone hears the message about the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what was sown in their heart. This is the seed sown along the path. The seed falling on rocky ground refers to someone who hears the word and at once receives it with joy. But since they have no root, they last only a short time. When trouble or persecution comes because of the word, they quickly fall away. The seed falling among the thorns refers to someone who hears the word, but the worries of this life and the deceitfulness of wealth choke the word, making it unfruitful. But the seed falling on good soil refers to someone who hears the word and understands it. This is the one who produces a crop, yielding a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown.” Matthew 13:18-23
