Painting in Progress

“I have learned that if you must leave a place that you have lived in and loved and where all your yesteryears are buried deep, leave it any way except a slow way, leave it the fastest way you can. Never turn back and never believe that an hour you remember is a better hour because it is dead. Passed years seem safe ones, vanquished ones, while the future lives in a cloud, formidable from a distance.” ― Beryl Markham, West with the Night
This is the beginning of a painting entitled Deep of Night. When I was searching for quotes that struck me to be a part of this process I found this one above by Beryl Markham. The painting begins with a simple path in mind but explodes as it goes forward. It never can turn back to be what it was... that will be a memory tomorrow and the day after.
Perhaps in our lives we hang on to many 'bags' of things and we tend to drag them around with us. Pack those bags and learn to leave them behind. Move forward without your baggage. Watch for changes in this baby tomorrow.
"When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life." John 8:12
