“You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.”  Jim Rohn

I heard this quote recently in a class with Alyson Stanfield.   It really stood out in my mind as I contemplated who were the five people I spend the most time with.  DO you know who yours are?

  1. God ... I start my day with Him; I walk with Him; I talk to Him constantly throughout the day; I rest in Him; I believe in Him.  From Him I have LIFE, LOVE, LIGHT and BEING.
  2. Terry... My husband.  I met him when I was eleven so I would definitely believe he qualifies as a top ranking person. From Terry I have unconditional love, trust, laughter, and that beautiful feeling of "attached at the hip". We are always there for each other.
  3. Lady L... she is next in ranking for time.  She keeps my view in perspective to youth, life, and the importance of priorities and always serving and doing for others. She brings energy to my life and that keeps me thinking and acting young. She offers the simple love that only a child can offer, without strings attached.
  4. Stacey... our daughter. Wow, where to start there. Courage, strength, tenacity and unconditional love. She is a constant.
  5.  Morgan... our youngest son. Heart, belief in unconditional love for family and friends, would give you the shirt off his back to help you. He does not just reach out, he is there when you need him no matter what.

The beauty of these top 'five' is the blessing of life walking with them. They hold me up and I in turn hold them up. Without my 'five' I would be struggling.  We are all interconnected. What we say and do affects not just ourselves but others in our lives. Did you realize how much words cut hearts and dreams into shreds? Think about your actions and your reactions in life.

I told Lady L last week when I taught school I had only ONE RULE in my classroom. "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you."   If you are living your life with that in your heart, your words and actions...you are living life right.

Make your list of the top five.

Laurie

“He himself bore our sins” in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by his wounds you have been healed.”

Mixed Media Collage Horse Paintings by Texas Artist Laurie Justus Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2013 Horse Collage Fall 2013  12 x 18 inches Mixed Media on Canvas.  This was an intentional paint to imitate one of the 100 ponies I did in 2012. That poor little 8 x 10 pony was loved by a company to do very large prints and it was not here for me to even use to scan... so I created something with the same heart, a kindred spirit. The underlays are pages from a western book and then torn papers of different varieties were added along with stains of paint and purposeful areas of paint.  This would not be a painting I would do today, but the goal was to capture the spirit of the first painting. Laurie     © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 My Website   Thinking ahead to the Thanksgiving celebration next week, I remembered back to those previous dinners that I cooked, served, ate quickly, and cleaned up.  This is how I felt.  It is probably strange...even for me but I had the best fun sketching it out and painting it. We lost another dear family member this week. She has celebrated her 'continuation' day and is now with her mom and dad and her other cousins.  She leaves behind a family that will always celebrate her gentleness.  My aunt was special to all of us. She loved each of us dearly for who we were and was always ready with a hug or a 'good job'.    My memories are of breakfast pastries smeared with butter on top. It was not like they were not sweet enough as they were, but at her small kitch...

My life has the tendency to fall apart when I'm awake, you know?” Ernest Hemingway  I really enjoyed painting this scene. It was restful to me as the artist  and loved by our friends.  Sunday is the day of rest. I smiled when I found this in archives and thought it perfect for this day.  If you live in Texas you know that we still have 'rules' about not selling liquor before noon.  If you live in Texas and are in your late thirties and up, you might even remember Blue Laws.   Stores were simply NOT open...
