Change is by the minute and transitions occur in a blink of an eye or over a longer period of time. Depends on the Change and what is needed.   Sometimes with painting a transition is needed but normally I am working wet on wet.  This painting was not. It had a totally different identity last fall when it was painted. The first layers of paint were all in yellow golds and some blues.  The second layer was oranges, reds and more blues... and final two layers were whites and blacks. The horse "Lightning'  was not held back by the thick layering... he appeared out of the paint immediately coming toward me. He is dreamy in person.
