This painting was a joy to work on last weekend.  It had no beginning and truly could have no end, but I decided to leave it where it was because I felt the amazement of composition that just wove into this contemporary horse painting.

It was late at night when I ventured back into the studio to paint. You can tell by this image that I was working by light only.  I began to pull some of my neutral grays throughout and began to 'feel' a pattern come to front as I went next to paynes gray.  Then I came in and knifed in the whites allowing some to trail off with some of the grays.  Last came the black paint.  I left it like this over night... fighting off the urge to keep painting.  Sometimes you have to step back and let the process work for you instead of forcing things to be.

In the morning I returned and immediately saw where the horses were in the painting. I finished off their structure and then turned to color. I went with turquoise on this painting and once I worked it in, I knew I had to spice it with a slight bit of tangerine.

I hope you know my work is filled with JOY most of the time. Paintings do not work if I am not centered in that special place of Joy with God and allowing his spirit to work through me. Painting is never difficult when I am centered in Him.  Each painting has my full attention and often I am so absorbed in painting time flies... and Terry has to come dig me out.  My Paintings are filled with God'sspirit and my life with his joy.

Blessing you with Joy this day.
Laurie

Arrival...Refrigerator?

© Laurie Pace        Graphics One Design 2024 Arrival Oil on Canvas  SOLD   by Laurie Pace   Proverbs 16:3 "Commit to the Lord whtever you do, and he will establish your plans."   Worrisome times laced with prayers.   The world seems like a scary place lately. Praying for everyone affected by the last two hurricanes.  My adventures today were the result of a dead refrigerator. I have loved my Kitchen Aid refrigerator very much. The first one in the 'French Kitchen' look died at 13 months. Hubby wanted the same refrigerator. Well this one made it four years and a few months. I cannot believe appliances are not made to last longer...but wait, is that because they make more money if we have to replace it in 4-5 years?  You replace your mattress at least every 7 years... and your washer dryer, you might get 7 years out of those... The stoves seem to make it closer to 10 years. We are Lowe's customers, and Robert and Shelia at the Southlake Lowe's in Appliances

The Marsh... of our lives? Walking with God.

© Laurie Pace        Graphics One Design 2024 The Marsh 6 x 12 inches Oil on Canvas  SOLD   by Laurie Pace   I did two of these paintings about three years ago. They both sold immediately to a Florida Collector. Simple and elegant for a horse painting.  Ephesians 5:1-2 "Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children and walk in love, just as Christ also loved you and gave Himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God as a fragrant aroma."  One of the biggest challenges in walking with God is trusting Him and not trying to out think Him or to do everything your way. It never works.  The Apostle Paul wrote of his own struggles in Romans 7 .  Romans 7: 22-23 “ So I find this law at work: Although I want to do good, evil is right there with me. For in my inner being I delight in God’s law; but I see another law at work in me, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within me” I can only speak for mys

Be Strong and Courageous

© Laurie Pace        Graphics One Design 2024 Wild Stallion  by Laurie Pace   Be strong and of good courage, fear not, nor be affrighted at them:  for Jehovah thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee. Deut 31:6 This Stallion was painted back in 2010.  I am guessing it is oil by the visible layering strokes of my palette knife. The contrasts are precise and clear. The white cuts through the dark reds. The reds concentrate the motion and the shapes and everything moves counterclockwise. Temptation is calling me to paint.  Are there times recently you have needed strength and courage and felt defeated by other things before even facing the situation? Do you feel like you are going counter clockwise? Seems like life right now for many of us. If you can face what is before you knowing the Lord God has everything under control, you are then beginning to gather wisdom.   God is often stopped by our working when we get in the way of what is mean
