I have been reading this book about faith and art. I hope to share more of the contents and the exploration I am beginning as I blog each day. Last night, tired as I was, I pulled out the book and read the first chapter. It really made me sit and think about the 'why' of painting. Focused in thought I began to examine exactly the depth of the gift God has given to me. Am I using it correctly? I might answer both NO and YES to this one.
This particular small study painting was done for a reason. Angela Hardy, a fabulous Canadian acrylic artist I know, suggested I try a certain method with acrylics as i am trying to learn to love them. This took some time to paint using the method, and it truly is my first attempt with the proper supplies, and while it is NOT indicative of my normal knife painting, it was something I truly enjoyed the process as I painted. My art is suppose to be about the journey and the celebration of the gift. When things become rote we are truly not putting our full effort into them...mind, spirit and body.
Blessings, Laurie
