The Wanderers
24 x 36 inches Oil on Canvas
This is where I went as I began to rework the painting and I love the results. The harsh lines are gone and the blending of the colors lead directly into individual spaces of figures.

Blending of Spirits
Whenever two are more are gathered...there is a blending of spirits. First out of the box, I count that as God and me. His Spirit remains with me day and night and when I am in prayer with Him, for me there is a blending of His Holy Spirit with my physical being. How else do you have blending of the spirit? When I paint, I have to blend my spirit with His for the painting to have depth and feeling in its composition.
The next thing that pops in my mind is marriage. When two become as one, blending together in marriage. And later as children arrive, more blending. Maybe blending is synonymous with 'adjusting'. Every day is a reminder of blending in a relationship, not standing out as a single person but part of a couple.
Then there is friendship. That is truly a challenge when two very different people come together as friends for life. They bring odd differences to the table and at the same time they bring total acceptance for who each person is. Careful not to overstep bounds, and yet protecting and guiding each other through a lifetime of events.
I think of the stories in the bible as the Israelite tribe wandered together for years waiting to arrive in the Promise Land. They just could not get it all together, blending as a society as well as blending with the Father spiritually. Through a turn over in generations, they finally found that balance with God and arrived 'home' to Israel. God had made a covenant with them.
It is time to stop wandering. He is still waiting for you to come home and His arms are open to embrace you.
