Striving

This is where it first began when I was about 11 or 12 years old. It was the summer between 7th and 8th grade.
This was 1966... at a party. We had a huge group of friends and we gathered every Saturday at a different house for dancing, Twister and Spin the Bottle.
This was in 1991 when we got married...twenty years ago. This was our engagement picture. Wow look at all that hair! He even has a mustache.
The wedding that followed.....and now twenty years later! You will have to wait for those pictures.
I am still pretty sick and it put a huge damper on our plans. Most of you know Morgan and Kelly are getting married on Saturday.
We are tickled their anniversary will be so close to ours!! Our prayers surround them as they take this step and begin their journey.
I decided to share this marriage prayer that Terry and I have used over the years we have been together. Copy and save it; print it out and pray together with your spouse.
PRAYER FOR MARRIAGE
Most gracious God, we give you thanks for your tender love in sending Jesus Christ to come among us, to be born of a human mother, and to make the way of the cross to be the way of life.
We thank you, also, for our marriage in Your Name. By the power of your Holy Spirit, pour out the abundance of your blessing upon us.
Defend us from every enemy and Lead us through the painful times giving us the courage to make the journey and find the j oy that grows from learning. Give us peace, love and truth as part of the foundation of our love.
Let our love for each other be a seal upon each of our hearts, a mantle about about our shoulders, and a crown upon our foreheads.
Bless us daily in our work and in our companionship; in our sleeping and in our waking; in our sorrows and in our joy; in our life and in our death.
Finally in your mercy, bring us to that table where your saints feast forever in your heavenly home; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who with you and the Holy Spirit lives and Reigns, one God, forever and ever. Amen.
