This painting will be a journey of love. I am going to share parts of a story that I can share while still protecting my collector. This is a beginning sketch above on the canvas.  I was playing around and realized afterward I had not put a coat of light acrylic on the canvas before I began sketching. I will be approaching this painting differently.

EIGHT years ago a young woman saw this smaller painting and really wanted it.
EIGHT years ago it was purchased by a man for his wife and the young woman was very disappointed.
FOR SIX YEARS the young woman kept the painting as her screen saver.

LAST YEAR the young woman was diagnosed with cancer and died a short time later.
FOR MONTHS her husband tried to find me.
LAST MONTH I was called by an out of state Gallery asking if they could share my address with a buyer trying to reach me. They did not do computers.

TWO WEEKS ago I received a long letter from the young woman's husband.

TODAY I began the journey of painting a 3 ft by 4 ft painting for him for their home.  In this painting will be a journey of itself with much revealed about this young woman, her life, the lives she touched in her short time here on earth and the loss felt by her family, especially her husband.

The original painting was only 24 x 30 inches. The new one is 3 ft by 4 ft.  My concentration as I sketched was to maintain the relationship between the girls as they walk the path. IN the first painting the girls are at the far left side of the canvas toward the center leaving  a clear path to the right. Much in life is ahead of them.  On the larger painting I have the girls both more centered as I am telling more of a story and they are midway through their journey. There is a concrete bench with a flower and a worm, where they sat just moments ago counting the flowers they had collected. Across the path a dead bird is sketched in... and there may be a bunny and a cat as well... still thinking. The younger girl is carrying a basket and filling it with flowers...slowly making her choices of what she picks. The older girl leads the way for both of them. She has a rose in hand but is eagerly looking to what is ahead on the path as her eyes catch a butterfly in flight.   Will it stay like this? I do not know.. but I will begin and you will be part of the journey.

Just a quick note to remind you to sign up for my workshop. I had an email already asking what level it is... and it does not matter if you are a beginner or have been painting for 20 years. What you will experience will benefit you no matter where you are in your artistic journey. I have 30 years experience of teaching art.

I went tonight to visit Selah Inn.  I can only say in all honestly that I have never stayed anywhere that touches the beauty and the comfort of this bed and breakfast.  My husband was bowled over by what is there and the feeling of serenity seeps through you as you walk through the Inn and out into the acreage. There are numerous lakes, hiking trails, fishing and lots of things to paint. It will be a three day stay that will bring a new slant to your life.  Please join us in May.  CLICK here to read more... Rooms are limited. I will mark them as they are reserved. If you have a gaggle of friends and want to come..there is one room with a large king bed, a twin trundle and two very comfortable bunk beds. I think it was the HOPE room.  It would be a wonderful slumber party with a huge porch balcony for watching the lake and the sunset. Many of the rooms have their own private sitting rooms as well. Click here for PDF of workshop.

A Bit of Wonder Contemporary Horse Oil Daily Painting Art by Laurie Justus Pace 24 x 30 x 2 inches of thick buttery oils! Contact me to purchase: Laurie "This is the day that the Lord has made; Let us rejoice and be glad in it". Psalm 118:24 It was a day of celebration yesterday as Lauren Gracen was born. Stacey began her labor around nine in the morning and was ready to push by 12:15, but they held her off while getting things set up. Took four good contractions with multiple pushes and the baby was there! All grandparents accounted for to count the toes and fingers! My admiration is for my daughter and her bravery and calmness despite the tension and newness of what she faced. I was honored to be there as the baby was delivered seeing my granddaughter push out into the light and take her first breathe... and then cry... and that she did. Terry was able to participate and he and Larry helped with pushing and getting Stacey upright for the process and then Terry was hon...

Arrival...Refrigerator?

© Laurie Pace        Graphics One Design 2024 Arrival Oil on Canvas  SOLD   by Laurie Pace   Proverbs 16:3 "Commit to the Lord whtever you do, and he will establish your plans."   Worrisome times laced with prayers.   The world seems like a scary place lately. Praying for everyone affected by the last two hurricanes.  My adventures today were the result of a dead refrigerator. I have loved my Kitchen Aid refrigerator very much. The first one in the 'French Kitchen' look died at 13 months. Hubby wanted the same refrigerator. Well this one made it four years and a few months. I cannot believe appliances are not made to last longer...but wait, is that because they make more money if we have to replace it in 4-5 years?  You replace your mattress at least every 7 years... and your washer dryer, you might get 7 years out of those... The stoves seem to make it closer to 10 years. We are Lowe's customers, and Robert ...
