We were in church yesterday and again I believe that Pastor Pete spoke his words directly to Terry's heart and a family situation we are facing. The reading was Isaiah 11
A shoot will come up from the stump of Jesse; from his roots a Branch will bear fruit.
The Spirit of the LORD will rest on him— the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding,
the Spirit of counsel and of might, the Spirit of the knowledge and fear of the LORD—
and he will delight in the fear of the LORD. He will not judge
The Spirit of the LORD will rest on him— the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding,
the Spirit of counsel and of might, the Spirit of the knowledge and fear of the LORD—
and he will delight in the fear of the LORD. He will not judge
by what he sees with his eyes,
or decide by what he hears with his ears; but with righteousness
or decide by what he hears with his ears; but with righteousness
he will judge the needy,
with justice he will give decisions for the poor of the earth. He will strike
with justice he will give decisions for the poor of the earth. He will strike
the earth with the rod of his mouth; with the breath of his lips he will slay the wicked.
Righteousness will be his belt and faithfulness the sash around his waist.

The wolf will live with the lamb, the leopard will lie down with the goat,
the calf and the lion and the yearling together; and a little child will lead them.
The cow will feed with the bear, their young will lie down together,
and the lion will eat straw like the ox. The infant will play near the cobra’s den,
the young child will put its hand into the viper’s nest.

Pete had this painting up on the screen by American Artist Edward Hicks. It tells the story of Isaiah 11. In the background you can even see on the far left side the colonists making peace with the Indians.
I won't delve into Pete's entire message but the part that caught us squarely in the heart was the fact that the lion and the lamb actually live inside of both of us. When you feel anger or depression or fear... the lion is rearing up inside of you. The lamb is God and His peace... and that is where we all desire to be in life, with God in that peaceful state. Realize of course you cannot have that trusting peace and gentleness of the lamb with out knowing the contrast of the aggressive distrustful lion. Think about it, and search yourself to see the existence of this contrast within yourself. Then examine how you should react to others when the lion is roaring in your face. I believe He gives us knowledge and from that comes the wisdom. We must know ourselves and see this in ourselves before we can acknowledge it and grow to a place where we can keep that lion in a calm peaceful place.
This second week in advent have HOPE and place your trust in Him and prepare a space in your heart and your life to let Him come in. No matter what the challenge is from day to day, trust in Him.
Continue to prepare and believe in abundance.

“Therefore Jesus said again, “Very truly I tell you, I am the gate for the sheep. I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved. They will come in and go out, and find pasture. The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” - John 10:7, 9-10
