Yesterday was one of THOSE days.  It was not bad enough to make you say, "Why did I even get out of bed?"  but it definitely made you reflect on it.  Not sure where any of the time went and I needed to paint yesterday. I played with the above piece and one other that finally made me laugh and cry.

Such is the life of an artist.  Some days the creativity just flows through you and other times you try to take charge and it never works. None of it.   Wonder how the great Creator felt way back when... did He have bad days and good ones as He worked too? That might explain some things..huh?

I still have not figured out what roaches are for, or even mosquitoes.  I guess bird food maybe? Back to the art.  I wrote fellow artist Mary Jo Zorad and voiced my fears and struggles of the day.  But what answer kept coming back to me in my heart and head was a voice saying, "to thine own self be true."

My power painting is color and my palette knife.  Try as I might desperately wanting to use a brush it doesn't work well.. or it seems forced.  So at this crossroads in my journey I must make some decisions.  In the world of artists there are soooo many of us... and it is hard to be original when there are so many.   A virtual army....

" Art tells the whole story. For as long as mankind has played a role in this world, artists have recorded that role.  Historians and archaeologists study art to learn about past civilizations and the individuals within them.  Every era in our history has been recorded, defined, refined, and enhanced by its artists… and today is no exception.  Not a moment slips by that isn’t being translated, somewhere, by someone, into a work of art.  Every second holds a lifetime of inspiration, and in our fast-paced world this means that capturing the essence of the era requires a veritable army, millions strong and wielding their chosen implements of creation.  Right now there are untold numbers of artists channeling their situations, their conflicts, their passions, their grievances—their lives and the lives of those around them—into their work.  Transforming their energy into what matters.  Using their art to tell the whole story."

This is from the www.CFAIntl.com site.  With the help of my nephew in Austin, I gave him EVERYTHING I wanted to express about art and bless his God given talent, he was able to put it all into this paragraph for me.    This is truly what art is about...recording, defining, inspiring, translating, capturing and creating... that is an artist.  This is the banner under which our huge 8 page December ad in Southwest Art runs... and you can see the ad on the CFAI site now or in the next issue of Southwest Art.

Every second God gives us holds a life time of opportunities... are you taking advantage of those? Or are you stagnate trying to decide on your direction? Time is passing... make a choice and do it. Celebrate life and give thanks to God.

We can't change the past and no matter how hard we try, we really can't predict the future. How often have our carefully thought out plans fallen through? So, what we really have limited control of is now, today... And the free will choices that we have been blessed with. As my 17 year old son told last weekend as I walked out the door the other day "Do good things, make wise choices!". Hmm, wonder where he has heard that before?

Laurie, it grieves me to think you are struggling. Maybe those with the biggest hearts struggle the most? I tell my children that one person can make a difference ... And you have made a wonderful difference by your open witness and using your God given talents.

A Bit of Wonder Contemporary Horse Oil Daily Painting Art by Laurie Justus Pace 24 x 30 x 2 inches of thick buttery oils! Contact me to purchase: Laurie "This is the day that the Lord has made; Let us rejoice and be glad in it". Psalm 118:24 It was a day of celebration yesterday as Lauren Gracen was born. Stacey began her labor around nine in the morning and was ready to push by 12:15, but they held her off while getting things set up. Took four good contractions with multiple pushes and the baby was there! All grandparents accounted for to count the toes and fingers! My admiration is for my daughter and her bravery and calmness despite the tension and newness of what she faced. I was honored to be there as the baby was delivered seeing my granddaughter push out into the light and take her first breathe... and then cry... and that she did. Terry was able to participate and he and Larry helped with pushing and getting Stacey upright for the process and then Terry was hon...

Arrival...Refrigerator?

© Laurie Pace        Graphics One Design 2024 Arrival Oil on Canvas  SOLD   by Laurie Pace   Proverbs 16:3 "Commit to the Lord whtever you do, and he will establish your plans."   Worrisome times laced with prayers.   The world seems like a scary place lately. Praying for everyone affected by the last two hurricanes.  My adventures today were the result of a dead refrigerator. I have loved my Kitchen Aid refrigerator very much. The first one in the 'French Kitchen' look died at 13 months. Hubby wanted the same refrigerator. Well this one made it four years and a few months. I cannot believe appliances are not made to last longer...but wait, is that because they make more money if we have to replace it in 4-5 years?  You replace your mattress at least every 7 years... and your washer dryer, you might get 7 years out of those... The stoves seem to make it closer to 10 years. We are Lowe's customers, and Robert ...

The Marsh... of our lives? Walking with God.

© Laurie Pace        Graphics One Design 2024 The Marsh 6 x 12 inches Oil on Canvas  SOLD   by Laurie Pace   I did two of these paintings about three years ago. They both sold immediately to a Florida Collector. Simple and elegant for a horse painting.  Ephesians 5:1-2 "Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children and walk in love, just as Christ also loved you and gave Himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God as a fragrant aroma."  One of the biggest challenges in walking with God is trusting Him and not trying to out think Him or to do everything your way. It never works.  The Apostle Paul wrote of his own struggles in Romans 7 .  Romans 7: 22-23 “ So I find this law at work: Although I want to do good, evil is right there with me. For in my inner being I delight in God’s law; but I see another law at work in me, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the ...
