The Painting: This was painted in June 2008. It is a layering of antique music from late 1800's and early 1900's from my grandfather's music collection. The next layers are varnish and painting and more varnish and painting.
The Thought: I was sitting at the table this morning watching the birdfeeders and I chuckled and said to Terry, "We have new customers." He laughed back and said "Not new customers, but patrons of the seed."
Here are these two bird feeders (Three if you count the hummingbird feeder) that I keep filled with fresh seed. It is selfish of me to do it because I love watching ALL the different kind of birds that flock to it all day long. Some species I have only seen in pictures in books. Truly nice as I watch the birds fly up and take turns eating of the banquet of seeds. They don't have to do anything..just open their beaks and eat.
Back to the birds, it made me realize as I had the bible in hand just seconds later as Terry and I read Habakkuk together...that God is like a giant bird feeder. He keeps our 'feed' ready at all times. The banquet table is overflowing with His bounty, but we have to take the time to stop and eat.
To have a relationship with Him requires participation from us. We have to be actively seeker to receive, our hands and heart open to Him in good times and in bad times. His food is ready... come and eat.

This is a painting Mike Beeman did for me. He captures the soft uniqueness of the birds better than any other artist I know. I love that he entitled it, "Enjoying the View". Fits in perfect with our new home and our move to the lake. Click on the painting to visit his blog. His work will awe you!
