The Painting: I finished this painting adding in the dark shadows that were lacking in the first image shot I took of this. Again it will be at the Dutch Art Gallery for the upcoming show.

The Thought: Everything we read in life leaves some type of impression on us. Heck, everything we watch leaves some time of impression on us as well. In times past the written word was something special shared to pass down between generations, often stories and parts of history keeping alive through the sharing of the written word from family to family.
The legacy of the past written in hand word by word is something cherished. Do you realize most of our students in high school cannot write cursively? When did this happen? They cannot even read handwriting in cursive. I can only speak for myself, but I still write in cursive and take pride in penmanship as I do. When I am writing in my journal or writing correspondence, it is written with time and love woven through every stroke. The motion enables me to concentrate on the phrasing and wording and what I am trying to communicate.
The Bible is a beautiful example of collected words, phrases and stories of old pulled together in a book of God's best work. From it we have the guide for our lives. Paul writes about this in Romans, "the Scriptures give us patience and encouragement so that we can have hope."Romans 15:4
One day this week forget about the television. Spend time reading the Bible and some of your favorite literature. Pick up your pen and start a journal. Begin your legacy of life by setting this example in your own family. Write notes for those that you love and tuck them into their wallets or purses...Hand write those notes, do not text them. Part of the love is in the physical writing of the thought...taking Pen to Hand and then to paper to express what needs to be written.
